Here is the story from a TV station in Hartford:

STONINGTON
One person is dead after a truck drove an embankment and caught fire along I-95 in Stonington this morning.

The crash, which happened about 8 a.m. near northbound Exit 91, shut down all but one lane of the highway.

As of 2 p.m. one northbound lane was open. Police estimated that the highway won't be clear until after 7 p.m. The state Department of Transportation is putting up signs directly people to alternate routes.

State police said one person in the truck died, but that no other vehicles or people were involved. The victim's name was not released.

The truck's saddle tank apparently ruptured in the crash, causing a fire and leaving a diesel spill. The state Department of Environmental Protection, along with state police and local fire departments, are on scene and said that there is no significant environment impact but that a contractor is doing cleanup.

Stonington Police added that the box truck was carrying staging equipment and not hazardous materials.

DOT also inspected and cleared a bridge in the area.

  1. I knew this driver and am sadden to the core.

It's been said that he did NOT fall asleep. He was talking on his CB to the driver ahead of him before the accident. Blown tire? Heart attack?

We worked together for 4 months straight.
He was a warm, generous, kind and hard-working man. A true gentleman.

He was the guy you wanted at your back, b/c he'd take 'one' before you did.

    This is a terrible loss . . . .

    RIP Bobby xo

That's always been my slam in country music, that I was never a true country artist, even though &q
