Reba Celebrates 40 Years in the Opry

NASHVILLE,  Tenn.  - (September 22, 2017) – The Grand Ole Opry celebrated the 40 th  Anniversary of Reba McEntire’s Opry debut tonight with surprise appearances by Dolly Parton and Carrie Underwood with Vince Gill as host. McEntire first played the Opry on September 17, 1977.   U nderwood surprised the audience with an unannounced performance of three of her biggest hits followed by another appearance with McEntire to duet on the Grammy-winning “Does He Love You.” “It’s always an honor to be on this stage, especially tonight. You are an inspiration to us all,” Underwood said to McEntire.  Parton had made a last-minute Opry appearance on the night of McEntire’s debut, reducing McEntire’s set to one song. Remembering Troy Gentry

A public celebration of life has been set for Montgomery Gentry member  Troy Gentry , who  died Friday, Sept. 8  in Medford, N.J. He was 50. The celebration of life will take place Thursday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. CT at the Grand Ole Opry House, located on 2804 Opryland Dr. in Nashville. A private, family internment will follow. For those unable to attend the celebration of life event, a live stream can be viewed at  opry.com on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to T.J. Martell Foundation or The American Red Cross for hurricane relief.
