TAYLOR SWIFT EARNS FIVE
2010 ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARD NOMINATIONS
TAYLOR’S FEARLESS TOUR RETURNS TO US ARENAS THIS WEEK
Nashville, TN – March 2, 2010 – Taylor Swift was at home in Hendersonville, Tenn. this morning when she heard the news that she had received five Academy of Country Music Award nominations, including one for the evening’s top honor, Entertainer of the Year.
Taylor is nominated in four categories: Entertainer, Top Female Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year (for “You Belong With Me” – nominated as artist and songwriter), and Video of the Year (for “You Belong With Me”). The 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, April 18th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
At last year’s ACM Awards, Taylor was awarded the Academy’s Crystal Milestone Award, and her Fearless album was named Album of the Year. The disc went on to win four Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album. Fearless was also named Album of the Year by the Country Music Association and Favorite Country Album at the American Music Awards. In 2009, Taylor was named Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards, and also became the youngest artist in the 43-year history of the Country Music Association to be awarded country music’s top prize when she took home the CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year.
This Thursday night (March 4th), Taylor kicks off the North American leg of her FEARLESS 2010 Tour with a sold-out show at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. The 39-date tour will visit arenas and stadiums in 31 cities in 25 states and provinces in the US and Canada over the next 3 months. Kellie Pickler returns this year as a featured artist on all of the North American tour dates, and Gloriana is back to open all of the shows. The TAYLOR SWIFT FEARLESS 2009 TOUR was the hottest ticket of the year, wowing fans and critics worldwide. Capacity crowds packed arenas around the globe, and the blockbuster tour was chronicled in the one-hour primetime NBC network special Dateline: On Tour With Taylor Swift.
The Taylor Swift FEARLESS 2010 Tour is presented by American Greetings Corporation, expanding on the partnership announced in November of last year. The Taylor Swift Collection of greeting cards debuted at retailers last month. The FEARLESS tour is produced and promoted by The Messina Group (TMG.) Taylor’s Big Machine Records album releases, Fearless and her self-titled debut, have topped 13 million copies in combined total sales, plus an additional 25 million paid song downloads.
