Mike & Mike… + Kenny Chesney?Pens Preface for Sports Talk Duo's April 7 Book Rules for Sports and Life

Nashville: Kenny Chesney is no stranger to ESPN Radio and ESPN-2's morning sports talk temple “Mike and Mike in the Morning.” The high energy country star has stopped in to talk football, baseball and life on the road and everything in between with former sports journalist Mike Greenberg and former Notre Dame and NFL lineman Mike Golic, the oddest couple facing off about sports as the put the obsessive fan perspective against the man in the midst of the game for a no holds barred take on the day's and week's biggest sports stories.

So when the two sports anchors, who're heard by over 3,000,000 strong each morning, wanted someone to offer a personal take on their dynamic, their commitment to sports, the daily dialogue and the way those things translate to life, Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg reached out to the man who's headlined multiple major NFL stadiums across American for the past five summers to pen the preface to their
Mike and Mike's Rules for Sports and Life, available April 7 at bookstores nationwide.

“They're a little bit crazy and irreverent,” says the former Gibbs High wide receiver and the 4-consecutive Academy of Country Music and 4-time Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year, “but they know their sports - and from completely unique perspectives - and aren't afraid to hash it out. To me, it's a lot like what goes on on my bus when we're out on the road, except, they're on ESPN-2 and ESPN radio.

“So when they asked if I would write something for their book, I was right there. I'd never done anything like that before, but it was honored to be asked.”

“He did an awesome job,” said Mike Greenberg of Chesney's weiting. “He completely got us…”

“It's not hard to do,” Chesney responds. “They have a lot of heart - and a lot of fun. If you're gonna go at sports or life or whatever, Mike and Mike know how to do with with humor, with passion and that comes through when you listen, when you watch and certainly when you read their book.”

Noted political and economic columnist George Will provides the forward for
Mike and Mike's Rules for Sports and Life, putting the singer/songwriter in very rarified company for the book from the unlikely pairing of jock and geek. As for Chesney and ESPN, this marks his second collaborationwith America's sports network, having penny the college football featured song “This Is Our Moment,” which debuted last fall and due to overwhelming response was stripped into Chesney's Greatest Hits ii.

With “Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3-D”-capturing 5 of Chesney's high impact stadium shows like you've never seen them -- arriving in theatres nationwide April 21, the films's end theme “Ain't Back Yet” is well into the Top 10 just three weeks after its add date. “Ain't Back Yet” joins the ESPN featured “This Is Our Moment” as additions to Chesney's already gold
Greatest Hits II. Looks for Chesney to be popping up on the freewheeling “Mike & Mike in the Morning” in the coming weeks.
