FAITH HILL, MARTINA MCBRIDE 'ROCK THE CRADLE' TO BENEFIT BABIES BORN AT BAPTIST HOSPITAL

More than $225,000 Raised at Baptist Hospital Foundation Event

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Oct. 28, 2010 - A crowd of more than 450 people, including music industry, business and community leaders, attended the Baptist Hospital Foundation's Rock the Cradle fundraiser featuring Faith Hill and Martina McBride.

It was the first time that Hill and McBride had ever performed together. They joined each other on stage at the same time for the performance, singing several of their hit songs, including several songs as duets. The fundraiser took place in the intimate setting of the Loveless Café Barn, where Hill and McBride shared personal stories and interacted with the audience.

The casual, music-focused event also included a cocktail reception, dinner, live auction and performances from comedian Kevin King and songwriters Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman. Nan Kelley, GAC Host for Top 20 Country Countdown and OpryLive!, served as the emcee.

The event generated more than $225,000 in proceeds to benefit babies born at Baptist Hospital, specifically for the Beaman Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Connie Bradley and Troy Tomlinson served as the Rock the Cradle event co-chairs.

"All of the performers and the event planning committee generously donated their time and talents and we are grateful," said Bernie Sherry, president and CEO at Baptist Hospital. "Faith and Martina have a personal connection with Baptist Hospital. Their involvement in Rock the Cradle will be forever lasting because the funds raised will impact the hundreds of babies who are treated in our neonatal intensive care unit every year."

Each year, Baptist Hospital delivers more than 7,000 babies, more than any other hospital in Middle Tennessee. Approximately 10 percent of these babies will need several days or even months of intensive care provided in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). For parents who face an extended hospital stay for their baby, it can be an incredibly stressful and challenging time. Baptist Hospital Foundation funding has helped to renovate and equip Baptist Hospital's NICU, provide continuing education for nurses and other staff and assist families who have a critical need because their baby is in the NICU.

The Baptist Hospital Foundation, established as a 501c3 organization in 1983, provides a vehicle for friends of the hospital to make tax-deductible gifts in support of various hospital-related programs.

Baptist Hospital is a member of Saint Thomas Health Services, a faith-based ministry with more than 6,500 associates serving Middle Tennessee. Saint Thomas Health Services' (STHS) regional health system consists of five hospitals - Baptist and Saint Thomas Hospitals and the Center for Spinal Surgery in Nashville, Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro and Hickman Community Hospital in Centerville - and a comprehensive network of affiliated joint ventures in diagnostics, cardiac services and ambulatory surgery as well as medical practices, clinics and rehabilitation facilities.
STHS is a member of Ascension Health, a Catholic organization that is the largest not-for-profit health system in the United States. For more information, visit www.baptisthospital.com or www.sths.com.
