Single Sales Of 500K+ Earn an RIAA Gold Certification for "If I Die Young" as the CMA-nominated Trio of Siblings Vie For "Vocal Group Of The Year" and Gear Up for Alan Jackson Tour
Oct. 7, 2010 (NASHVILLE, TN) - Republic Nashville's The Band Perry will debut their first full-length album, THE BAND PERRY, on October 12, 2010. With their single, "If I Die Young" now officially certified as a Gold single by the RIAA for sales exceeding 500,000, the band celebrates this impressive milestone as they prepare for their album debut and continue earning distinctions from fans and the music industry alike.
It is rare that such accolades and honors come so quickly to a breaking band, yet even before the release their first album, the band has a Gold single, "If I Die Young" racing up the charts (currently #13 on the Country Charts) and selling 40K downloads a week.
As audiences double with each performance, the trio of siblings - Kimberly, Neil and Reid Perry - are preparing to tour with the legendary Alan Jackson in November and are basking in the glow of their first CMA nomination for "Vocal Group of the Year." This is the trio's first nomination for a national music award and the first nomination for an artist on the Republic Nashville label.
The Band Perry will attend the 44th Annual CMA Awards on November 10, 2010.
THE BAND PERRY signed with Republic Nashville in the summer of 2009. In April 2010, their five-song EP was released at the same time that their first single, "Hip To My Heart" broke the Top Twenty at Country Radio. The band's 2nd single, "If I Die Young" went to radio as their touring schedule brought them from one end of the country to another, opening shows for such artists as Keith Urban, Brooks & Dunn and Zac Brown Band. Since then, The Band Perry has earned a CMA nomination for Vocal Group of the Year, maintained digital single sales of 40K units a week and sold in excess of 500,000 total units, qualifying them for RIAA Gold certification. They've announced tour dates with Alan Jackson this Fall. Written by the band, "If I Die Young" has an inspirational message of appreciating the time one is given - the band has received volumes of letters, emails and YouTube testimonials from fans from 7 to 70 about how the song helped them reflect on their life in a positive way or heal them from the loss of a loved one.
