Country Star to Perform Free Concerts on Army Garrisons As Tribute to Military Families 


Nashville, TN - October 7, 2010 - Country star Darryl Worley is teaming up with Army Entertainment to present his 2010 God & Country Tour, a country music tribute to military families on various Army garrisons located all across the U.S. The general public is also invited to attend the FREE concerts sponsored by GM Military Discount and TriWest Healthcare Alliance.

In addition to his nightly concerts, Worley will also be on hand earlier in the day at the Exchange to sign autographs and visit with servicemen and women and their families.  

A special seven-song God & Country EP will be available for sale at stops along the tour. Featured on the new project is "Unsung Heroes," a song penned by Worley to honor the often-overlooked family members of U.S. troops. A free download of the song will be available online athttp://darrylworley.com/unsungheroes/ for members of the Armed Forces.The EP also includes a moving new acoustic interpretation of his 2002 #1 hit, "Have You Forgotten."

Worley has been a tireless performer for soldiers both here and overseas. His Stars For Stripes Tour to Iraq in May 2010 was his eighth visit to the region and included full band and acoustic sets at several remote Forward Operating Bases for military  who rarely receive celebrity entertainment. He has been honored with the VFW's Americanism Award, the USO Merit Award and the U.S. Army Appreciation Award. He has also been cited by the Tennessee House of Representatives for his contributions to country music.

"I have never had anything affect my life in such a huge way as I have performing for troops both here and overseas," says Worley. "It's affected me physically, spiritually and emotionally. At times it's been overwhelming, but it's also one of the most rewarding things I've ever done."
