Chris Young Earns His First CMA Award Nomination!

Young Co-Hosted the Announcement of Seven of the 12 CMA Award Categories, Including His Nominated Category,
New Artist of the Year

Nashville, TN – RCA Nashville chart-topper Chris Young co-hosted this morning’s announcement at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium of the final nominees in seven of the 12 categories for The 44th Annual CMA Awards, and Young also walked away a nominee, earning his first CMA nomination:  New Artist of the Year.

Reacting to the news, Young said, “It’s just a great feeling.  To be recognized like this as an artist, it means a lot to you, especially me, being my first CMA nomination.”  Young remarked that as excited as he is about the recognition, he feels a real source of pride in the people around him who’ve brought him to this point.  “Probably the thing that I’m most proud of is just really how everybody else has treated my career.  I’ve always been really excited and just proud to be on RCA and proud to be able to have my music heard,” Chris offered.  From the fans to all the people who work with him, Young says their continuing belief in him makes the good moments like this a shared celebration.  “I think about how excited I am, and then I’ll have people come up that are just as excited as me.  I’m just really lucky that I’ve got people like that in my corner.”

The news is yet another part of an incredible year for Chris, who marked another first this month with the RIAA Gold Digital Single certification of his #1 smash, “Gettin’ You Home.”  The song was the first of Young’s back-to-back #1 singles, with Chris topping the chart for three weeks this summer with “The Man I Want to Be,” the title track to his current album.

After touring with Alan Jackson earlier this year, Young has been on the road this summer on the Rascal Flatts Nothing Like This Tour.  Young will re-join Alan Jackson for the fall leg of his 2010 tour, also featuring The Band Perry, beginning November 4 in Sacramento.

Chris is on the radio and video airwaves now with “Voices,” the newest hit from his acclaimed sophomore album, The Man I Want to Be.

Fans can tune-in for all the excitement of The 44th Annual CMA Awards, as the show airs live from Nashville on Wednesday, November 10, at 8 PM ET, on ABC Television.
