RASCAL FLATTS HOST PRIVATE EVENT TO CELEBRATE SONGWRITERS
Nashville, TN…(February 4, 2010)…Last night, Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney gathered at the Musician’s Hall of Fame in Nashville to pay tribute to the boys who make the noise on 16th Avenue with a private event celebrating the eighty songwriters who have contributed their creative talents to the band’s 6 previously released studio albums. “It starts with a song and it ends with a song,” said Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus. “We can talk about ‘Bless The Broken Road’ and ‘I’m Movin’ On’ that were amazing singles for us, but equally as important are those songs that were on our albums that never became singles. Those songs too touched people’s lives each and every day.”
The night kicked-off with a surprise appearance by Thom Schuyler who performed his well-known hit, “16th Avenue,” in homage to the gathered songwriters. The evening’s festivities also featured live acoustic stagings of eight of the band’s eleven #1 hits by the original songwriters. These moving and sometimes funny performances included “Here Comes Goodbye,” performed by Clint Lagerberg and Chris Sligh, “Mayberry,” performed by Arlos Smith, and Neil Thrasher and Wendell Mobley’s performance of “Take Me There.”
As the evening wrapped, Rascal Flatts honored each member of the assembled group with a custom engraved plaque honoring the songwriters and songs of the band’s first ten years.
