Newcomer David Nail’s third and latest single “Turning Home”, written by Kenny Chesney and Scooter Carusoe and from his debut album I’m About To Come Alive, was released last week. It garnered 35 first-week stations’ support, which made it the #1 most-added single on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck and Billboard charts. “Home” continues in growth this week with 23 more adds. Click here to hear it, and here to purchase it. Nail’s previous single “Red Light” is the longest charted single in Mediabase history at 42 weeks. For the second time in a month, Nail volunteered his time and voice for fundraisers benefiting the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF). Held in Walnut Creek, California (January 9) and St. Louis, Missouri (January 17), the events and the organization’s founder Tony LaRussa, also known as the Manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, provide money to build and operate a facility where dogs and cats can be taken once their time at public shelters has run out. Their mission is to bring people and animals together to enrich one another’s lives. Cardinals Hitting Coach Mark McGwire was also in attendance in St. Louis.
* Multi-platinum MCA Nashville recording artist, Josh Turner, has a huge hit with “Why Don’t We Just Dance”, the first song from the upcoming album, Haywire. The song reached # 4 on both charts this week and had the most increased audience with over 3.2 million impressions. Haywire will be released this coming Tuesday. Josh recently announced that he will also release a deluxe version of Haywire that same day, which will include the 11 songs that appear on the standard version, five written or co-written by Turner, plus two previously unreleased songs as well as live audio tracks of his hits “Your Man” and “Long Black Train.” There will also be digital elements that include the music video for the debut single “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and behind the scenes footage of Turner in the recording studio discussing every song on the album. Josh is really looking forward to the album’s release and his fan’s reaction: “My new album is called Haywire. It’s got eleven songs on it, five of which I wrote. It’s showcasing my voice in a different way and a better way, I think, in some ways because I really stretch myself vocally to make this album what it is today. There’s a lot of different types of songs on here. There’s one song that kind of speaks to the father-child relationship, there’s obviously the first single, ‘Why Don’t We Just Dance’, there’s an old school R&B type song on there, there’s a lot of up-tempo traditional country type songs on there, and then there’s also a gospel song on there that I wrote with my buddy, Mark Narmore, called ‘The Answer’ that’s probably one of my best gospel songs yet. There’s just a lot of different types of songs for the fans to sink their teeth into.”
