Nashville, TN - Oct. 7, 2009 - Rising country music group Lady Antebellum announced plans today to release their sophomore album titled NEED YOU NOW on Jan. 26, 2010. The lead single by the same name is the fastest rising of their career to date pushing its way into Billboard's Top 10 in just nine weeks.
"This song, and what we've finished of the new album so far, is all about passion," explains guitarist/vocalist Dave Haywood. "There's a real sense of urgency and fire...almost like a spark has reignited us creatively in the studio...so when we started talking about album titles, 'Need You Now' felt like it summarized our vibe right now perfectly."
The highly anticipated release date for new music from the CMA's 2008 "New Artist of the Year" comes the same day their self-titled debut album was certified PLATINUM by the RIAA for over one million in sales. The album has also now been certified GOLD in Canada. Additionally, 18 months after its release, the disc that was called "one of the best new artist debuts in recent memory" by Billboard has never slipped from the Top 10 on iTunes Country chart.
"This is just beyond anything we ever could have imagined when we sat down to write our first song together in 2006," said an overwhelmed Hillary Scott upon learning about their PLATINUM status. "I wish we could thank every one of the fans personally...that would be the coolest thing in the world for us. Everybody always says they have the best fans in the world, but 'everybody' hasn't met Lady A's fans...they are truly the best!"
Lady Antebellum took country music by storm with the release of their debut album, which spawned the smash hits "Love Don't Live Here," "Lookin' for a Good Time" and the recent No. one hit "I Run to You." The trio took home "Best New Artist" trophies from both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music in 2008 and racked up countless other award nominations, including two GRAMMY and three CMT Music Award nods.
Tens of millions of fans have watched the group gather momentum over the last 18 months as they've performed on Today,The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Early Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, along with countless network television specials including ABC'sCountry Music Association Awards and CMA Music Festival: Country's Night To Rock, as well as the CMT Music Awardsand CBS' Academy of Country Music Awards.
