Chris Young Scores His First #1 Single as “Gettin’ You Home”
Tops the Charts!

Kenny Chesney Helps Deliver the News

NashvilleTN – RCA Nashville hitmaker Chris Young earns the first #1 smash of his career as “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)” powers its way to the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, as well as Country Aircheck’s Mediabase chart.

From his recently released sophomore album, The Man I Want to Be, “Gettin’ You Home” is also a song that Chris co-wrote, which makes the success even more special.  “This is just so cool for me – this feeling will last the rest of my life,” he says.

Young recalls one of the fun aspects of hearing about his first #1 was the way it was delivered, when he stepped off a plane and called his record label head of promotion.  Chris says that as he was getting the news, he heard, “Hang on…there’s someone I want you to talk to,” at which point the phone changed hands and a man’s voice came on the line and began talking about his first #1 single before congratulating Chris on “Gettin’ You Home.”  That voice, Chris says, “was Kenny Chesney.  So, that was pretty cool!”

While celebration is definitely in order, Chris will be back on the road this week, and among his upcoming dates, Young will join American Idol finalists Michael Johns and Brooke White as well as other artists backed by American Idol music director Rickey Minor and his band, this Friday for the Idle Time Concert at the Lexington Opera House in Lexington, KY.  Presented by Shirecrest Equine EducationCenter, and working with the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital, the event benefits Lash’s Lessons, an educational program designed to teach healthy living concepts to children.  More information on the program, as well as a link to buy event tickets, can be found at lashslessons.net.
