Nashville TN August 11, 2009 -- What began as a viral challenge from Joe Nichols to his fans took on a whole new meaning when the artist visited Iraq a few weeks ago. Originally Nichols requested that his fans record a brief video expressing what they believed in, and then post the video on a special site on YouTube.
But when he spent ten days in Iraq performing for our servicemen and women, the viral challenge became even more important to the artist as he got to know the enlisted personnel and listened to their stories. Nichols had the video crew documenting his tour of Iraq interview the soldiers and ask them what they believed in. The result is an emotional and inspiring video that Nichols has posted on YouTube for all to see.
"I think it's really important for people to hear what our men and women in the military have to say," Nichols said. "I recorded the song 'Believers' because I feel the song has a strong and much needed message. We all need encouragement and something to believe in. Then when I went to Iraq and saw the strength and character the men and women in our military service exhibit every day and their belief in what they're doing, I knew I wanted to get that on film and share it with everyone. They are my inspiration."
The video is titled Believers Challenge From Iraq and can be see at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXoKQZAEEU8&feature=channel_page. "Believers' is the lead single from Nichols new CD Old Things New, scheduled for release later this year. For additional information on the artist please visit joenichols.com.
