Jack Ingram Makes Tonight Show Debut

NASHVILLE, TN - Aug. 12, 2009 - Award winning singer/songwriter Jack Ingram will take a break from one of the most intense touring schedules in country music to travel to Los Angeles to play on the syndicated Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader game show for charity this week. All of Ingram's winnings will go to support his new philanthropic partner Friends of TOMS, the non-profit partner of TOMS Shoes.

"It's crazy how things in your life come full circle sometimes. Back when I was 17 years old, my first job was as a camp counselor and one of my campers was a guy named Blake Mycoskie, who is now the founder and the 'Chief Shoe-Giver' you see on all the commercials for TOMS," explains the Texas native. "Blake was at one of my shows in L.A. recently, and we started talking about how we could partner up on a few things."

"So now here I am...about to prove to the world on national television that I am probably NOT, in fact, smarter than a 5th grader," adds Ingram. "I will be able to say that I helped my buddy put shoes on kids all over the world who didn't have them before though, which is a lot cooler than knowing the capitol of Hungary! And if you don't believe me, ask Kellie Pickler. I bet she'd be on my side!"

Ingram will use his TWITTER account today at 5:00pm CT to help fill his cheering section in the show's audience. He is looking for his most die-hard Los Angeles based fans to join him on the show and will announce the winners with a tweet on Thurs.

The 2008 ACM "Top New Male Vocalist" will also makes his Tonight Show with Conan O'Briendebut on Fri., Aug. 14., where he will perform his current summer hit "Barefoot & Crazy." The lead single off his forthcoming Big Machine Records album BIG DREAMS & HIGH HOPES (out Aug. 25) is the fastest rising of his career to date. It cracked the Top 10 this week on the Mediabase chart and is currently spending its 12th consecutive week in the No. one spot on the Texas Music Chart. The song will officially be retired from the Texas chart next week, making it the second time in Ingram's career a song has claimed retirement status and Ingram the only artist in the history of the chart to achieve this milestone.
