Nashville, TN - August 24, 2009 - Arista Nashville recording artist Jason Michael Carroll is delivering a hopeful message with his beautiful hit song, "Hurry Home," now a heartfelt music video depicting the storyline of a father anxiously awaiting word from his runaway daughter. In his childhood, Carroll's family endured a more than 15 year absence when his aunt was a runaway, and Carroll's sensitivity, both in the song and in the video - where he portrays a friend helping search for the missing girl - reflect his personal experience and the serious reality of life for many families.
"I felt that if we were going to make a video for 'Hurry Home,' it was important to try to do something to help, even in a small way," Carroll says, "and that's why we chose to include information at the end of the video about the National Runaway Switchboard."
Citing statistics of between 1.6 and 2.8 million young runaways each year, the mission of the National Runaway Switchboard is to help keep America's runaway and at-risk youth safe and off the streets via educational programs and much more, including a 24-hour crisis line at 1-800-RUNAWAY.
The video for "Hurry Home" is online now on Carroll's artist page at www.cmt.com, or link to it via his website at www.jasonmichaelcarroll.com. Fans can also look for the video on CMT Pure starting today, with airings beginning Tuesday on GAC.
In addition, Country Weekly is spotlighting Carroll and "Hurry Home" in a feature in their August 31 issue, on sale today.
"Hurry Home" is the second single, following the hit "Where I'm From," on Carroll's current album, Growing Up Is Getting Old. The song has already drawn praise for its poignancy and performance, with Billboard declaring, Carroll "offers a subtle, thoughtful delivery that brings out every nuance of emotion in the lyric ... this compelling ballad ... should help draw further attention to his impressive new album."
In talking about the sense of unconditional love at the heart of "Hurry Home," Carroll says that the lyrics about forgiveness and being able to come home again ring very true. He says, "Their families - all they want is them back. None of that other stuff matters to them anymore" but to have their loved ones home again.
