(2009-08-16)
(WXXI) - A Genesee County man faces vehicular manslaughter and DWI charges following a fatal crash Friday night in the Town of Darien.

Sheriff's investigators say 24-year old Ronald Wendt of Brookville Road in Alexander tried to turn left from Route 20 into a parking lot, despite a line of oncoming traffic following the Brad Paisley concert at nearby Darien Lake Amusement Park.

Police say he cut off a 1993 Toyota Camry which struck his Dodge Ram pickup on the passenger side.

The 11 pm crash killed 18-year old Katie Stanley of McNair Road in Dansville. Police say she died from head and chest injuries and was sitting in the rear passenger side of the Camry.

Three others in the car were also also injured. Police identify the driver of the Camry as Rachel Enderle, 27, of Jacobs Road in Dansville. Two of her passengers were also injured; Timothy Enderle, 20 of Chili, and Gabrielle Mahus, 18 of Mendoleine Road in Dansville. All are being treated at hospitals in Buffalo and Rochester.

Charges against Wendt include felony vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, having an uninsured and unregistered vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.

Wendt is in the Genesee County Jail awaiting $25,000 bail and is due back in Town of Darien court Wednesday morning.
