Over 100 placed in handcuffs at Country Fest
FOXBORO, Mass. -- Police cracked down on rowdy behavior and excessive drinking at The New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro Saturday.
Officers arrested dozens of people in an attempt to prevent a tragedy similar to what occurred last year, when two girls were killed in a car accident coming home from the concert.
Police were said to have had a "zero tolerance" policy at the concert, which features country music performer Kenny Chesney.
By 6 p.m. Saturday, more than 100 people were placed in handcuffs and several underage drinkers were arrested.
"The binge drinking is pretty significant," said Foxboro Police Chief Ed O'Leary. "Since people have started coming to the gates at (5 p.m.), we've had a rapid increase in the number of people we're taking into custody."
