Nashville, TN – Top new country group Gloriana’s self-titled album (Emblem Music Group/Warner Bros. Records) debuts at #2 on the Billboard Country Album Chart and #3 on Billboard’s Top 200. GLORIANA had the best first week sales of any new country artist with a debut album in 2009 with more than 44,000 copies sold. The album has received critical acclaim from several major outlets including People Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Billboard, and the Washington Post.
“We are humbled by the support and encouragement that we have received from our fans, country radio, our online partners and community, CMT and GAC, and all of those around us who have worked so hard on our behalf,” said Gloriana. “We are so grateful to Taylor (Swift), who has given us the opportunity to be on the road with her and has made us feel so welcome with her support.”
Gloriana began cultivating their online friends more than a year ago with the support of country music blogs, message boards and editorial features. Over the last few months, their Internet fan base quickly helped spread the word and they gained enormous exposure when Taylor Swift gave a shout out on Twitter. Digital sales providers like iTunes and Rhapsody supported the band early in the campaign and other on-line outlets like AOL’s The Boot, Verizon, Xbox, Clear Channel Online, and Citadel Online showed tremendous support as well.
GLORIANA, produced by multi-Grammy Award winner and label owner Matt Serletic, has struck a chord with fans and critics alike. Their single “Wild At Heart” has garnered the group another career highlight as the best selling song by a new country act in 2009 having sold well over a quarter of a million copies to date. The foursome returned to the Taylor Swift “Fearless 2009 Tour” this week after a successful week in New York City promoting the release of their debut album. The group will return to New York City August 27th to perform at the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden.
