FEARLESS PLATINUM EDITION
SWIFT HOSTS SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE ON NOVEMBER 7TH, ALSO MUSICAL GUEST
Nashville, TN – November 2, 2009 – Taylor Swift enters the history books this week, claiming the Billboard record for the longest charting album of this century.
Released in October of 2006, Taylor’s self-titled debut CD now spends its 157th week on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart, more weeks on the chart than any album this decade, surpassing the record previously held by Nickelback. Taylor also holds the Billboard record for most Top 10 debuts in a calendar year, and is the only solo female act in the 44-year history of the Billboard Country Chart to score five Top 10 singles from a debut album. Taylor holds the Billboard record for the longest-charting female Country star in the Nielsen SoundScan era, and is also the only Country artist in history to have a #1 single on Billboard’s Nielsen BDS Hot 100 Airplay chart (which incorporates airplay from all formats).
Also this week, with Big Machine Records’ release of the CD/DVD Fearless Platinum Edition, Taylor locked down five of the Top 10 singles positions on iTunes’ all-genre singles chart, as well as seven of iTunes’ Top 10 Country singles, including the entire Top 6. Fearless, named 2009’s Album of the Year by the Academy of Country Music, was originally released in November of 2008. Now quadruple-platinum in the US, Fearless has earned Gold or Platinum status in 16 countries spanning five continents and has spent more weeks in the #1 position atop Billboard’s Top 200 all-genre CD sales chart than any other album this decade.
This Saturday, November 7th, Taylor is set to host Saturday Night Live (NBC), and will also serve as the show’s musical guest that evening. Taylor joins a small number of artists who have pulled double duty on the show, a group that includes Justin Timberlake, Sting and Janet Jackson. The last time a female country artist was tapped to both host and perform was Dolly Parton, twenty years ago. Taylor will appear tonight, November 2nd, on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and is set to perform on the CMA Awards on ABC on November 11th.
Taylor is nominated for four CMA Awards this year, and with six nominations is the top nominee for the 2009 American Music Awards.
Taylor, who at 19 is the youngest artist in history to be nominated for the Country Music Association’s prestigious Entertainer of the Year Award, is taking her FEARLESS 2010 TOUR on the road for 37 shows in 29 cities in 22 states and provinces in the US and Canada, plus seven dates in Australia. A complete listing of tour dates is available onwww.taylorswift.com and on www.myspace.com/taylorswift.
