"Gimmie That Girl," Nichols' second single from Old Things New and his label Universal Records South, is already one of the fastest moving singles in the artist's career. After only three weeks, it is already in the 30's on the country music charts and also gave the artist his best first week sales for a single of his career.
The reviews on Old Things New have been equally glowing:
"one of the year's best country albums, …Nichols, with his rich, barrel-deep baritone, sounds like the heir to Johnny Cash."
-PEOPLE MAGAZINE, "Critic's Choice"
“a performance worthy of vintage Merle Haggard and George Jones.”
-USA TODAY
"not since George Jones' 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' has a singer sounded so haunted."
