Rich's lawyer comments on his client's booking...

John Rich's mugshot...after turning himself in to Nashville Police... The misdemeanor arrest involved an altercation at John's private club... here's the statement from John's attorney: “This entire ridiculous situation is nothing more than an effort by singer, [and former Nashville Star contestant] Jared Ashley [pictured here], and music row attorney Chris Sevier, to try to obtain money from me. Mr. Sevier and Mr. Ashley have falsely accused me of misdemeanor crimes. I trust that the truth will come out through the process of our American justice system and that I will be completely exonerated at the end of the day. “It’s unfortunately common in my line of work that there are a very small number of people who want to take advantage of another person’s success and try to get something for nothing. I truly did make every effort to work this out in connection with the defamation lawsuit I filed against Mr. Ashley. “Yesterday, I decided that a civil settlement would be i

Raving for traditionalist Jamey Johnson

Great review from a fan of last night's Jamey Johnson show at Nashville's Ryman: Good Morning, Jimmy! Country music is changing. It’s headed back to where it belongs, a place of tradition, honesty, respect, and finely crafted songs filled with heart, soul, and plenty of steel. Traditional country music still has an audience, it is very relevant, and it is very much alive and well .... and it’s in the very talented hands of Jamey Johnson!! If Music Row didn’t hear the message brought forth in the revival onstage at the Ryman tonight, they weren’t listening!! Jerrod Neiman and Randy Houser did a fine job of presenting their material, and it was refreshing and reassuring to see them open the show for their friend. But once Jamey stepped onstage, they quickly vanished in his wake. He very nearly raised the Ryman’s roof!! The Kent Hardly Playboys are some of the finest players to be found, but the real star of the show is Jamey’s rich voice which he wraps around the lyrics like thic

John Rich out on Bond...

From E!: John Rich claims he didn't punch the lights out of an aspiring star. But the latter half of Big & Rich was charged Thursday with assault and harassment for allegedly smacking a former Nashville Star contestant in the face. Jared Ashley sued Rich over the alleged smackdown and the country rocker countersued for defamation in April, claiming Ashley muddied the Rich name by accusing him of such a thing. Rich turned himself into Nashville police today to be booked on two misdemeanor counts of assault and one count of harassment, after which he was released on a $2,000 bond. The "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" singer said in a statement afterward that the charges are false and that he rejected a $2.9 million settlement offer from Ashley to drop his lawsuit. "I trust that the truth will come out through the process of our American justice system and that I will be completely exonerated at the end of the day," he said. Big & Rich have been on hiatus w

Columbia Nashville duo Montgomery Gentry was invited to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry this evening during the Tuesday Night Opry. Montgomery Gentry made their Grand Ole Opry debut nine years ago on March 3, 2000. The duo will be formally inducted into the Opry family on Tues., June 23. Opry member Charlie Daniels surprised Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry by approaching them from the Opry House audience and making his way on stage. “I have been chosen to do something very special,” Daniels said. “I have known you guys for a long time, and I am very proud of all your accomplishments,” he continued before offering, “if you agree to it, on June 23rd you’re gonna be made members of the Grand Ole Opry!” Montgomery and Gentry, both visibly surprised and moved, exchanged hugs with each other and with Daniels, after which Gentry managed, “I’m speechless” and Montgomery borrowed a handkerchief from Daniels to wipe his eyes. Paisley's "Then" 10th consecutive #1

ACM and CMA Male Vocalist and three-time GRAMMY winner Brad Paisley made chart history earlier this year when he scored his ninth #1 country single in a row, and he breaks his own record today as “Then” becomes his tenth consecutive, non-seasonal chart-topper – extending a streak already unmatched by any other country artist in the 19-year history of Nielsen BDS-monitored airplay. Paisley now stands in rare company, joining such chart titans as Alabama, George Strait, Ronnie Milsap, Earl Thomas Conley, Sonny James, Conway Twitty, and Paisley hero Buck Owens as the only country acts in Billboard history ever to achieve ten or more consecutive chart-toppers. Co-written by Paisley, Chris DuBois, and Ashley Gorley, “Then” is currently available to fans as a digital single and marks the first smash from Brad’s upcoming eighth album, American Saturday Night , releasing June 30. American Saturday Night re-teams Paisley with longtime producer Frank Rogers, with whom he’s worked since the
