* Award-winning singer/songwriter Jamey Johnson will perform "Lonely at the Top" on Late Show with David Letterman tonight. The song was written by Don Cook, Chick Raines and the late Keith Whitley but was never previously recorded. When Letterman and his staff heard the track from Johnson's forthcoming 25-song Double Album, they thought it would be the perfect song for him to perform on their show. Johnson's The Guitar Song will be in stores on September 14. In the meantime, iTunes Countdown to The Guitar Song program gives consumers the opportunity to purchase select tracks and receive credit towards the full album purchase at iTunes on street date. Currently, "Playing the Part," "Front Porch Swing Afternoon," "Heartache" and "That's Why I Write Songs" are all available for purchase. iTunes is also featuring an officialCountdown Video Podcast of Johnson discussing the stories behind the songs.
* Multi Grammy award-winning Mercury Nashville country duo SUGARLAND helps NBC's TODAY SHOW celebrate the kick off of the NFL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 as they take center stage on the plaza in New York City to perform their hit single "Stuck Like Glue", a previous #1 hit song and the NFL theme song. The single is # 13 on the Billboard charts and # 12 on Mediabase/Country Aircheck and the video is playing all over CMT and GAC. Sugarland chose to do this concept after cracking up about director Decklyn Whitebloom's concept: "We had so much fun doing the video even though it was an incredibly long day. I started out at 5:45 that morning and got back to my hotel room again at 12:30 that next morning-but it was SO fun. When I read the treatment for this song and for this video, I just cracked up because it was unexpected because the song is definitely fun and bouncy and a love song. He took it and made it twisted, dark comedy, and tongue-in-cheek which I love and it was just a blast to shoot."
