Charlie Daniels to NYC for Award

New York, NY – (September 8, 2010) – The T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research will celebrate its 35th Annual Awards Gala on Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in New York City.  This year, the Foundation is proud to present the Humanitarian of the Year Awards to brothers Monte and Avery Lipman, President & CEO of Universal Republic Records and Co-President & COO of Universal Republic Records respectively; the Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award to Kenny Loggins; the Lifetime Entertainment Achievement Award to Charlie Daniels; and the Lifetime Scientific Achievement Award to Harold L. Moses, MD, Director Emeritus of the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.

Colbie Caillat and Enrique Iglesias will perform for the crowd of over 1,100 music and entertainment leaders, top business and media executives, and celebrities; other musical performances will be announced at a later date.  The night also includes a fabulous cocktail reception, dinner, awards presentations and an impressive silent auction to raise funds for cancer and AIDS research.

ABOUT THE T.J. MARTELL FOUNDATION
The T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research was founded in 1975 by music industry executive Tony Martell and his colleagues in loving memory of his son, T.J., who died of leukemia.  It is dedicated to raising funds for the innovative initial and ongoing research for improved treatments and cures for leukemia, cancer and AIDS.  The Foundation has provided over $240 million dollars for research through a variety of events including concerts, gala awards dinners, family day activities, golf tournaments, wine dinners, and walk-a-thons.  Research hospitals funded by the foundation include T.J. Martell Memorial Laboratories at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City, Harvard School of Public Health, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Frances Williams Preston Laboratories at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, Columbia-Presbyterian Cancer Center in New York City, Massachusetts General Cancer Center in Boston, The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University in Atlanta.  This year marks the 35th anniversary for the T.J. Martell Foundation.
