RAISES $200,000
Proceeds Help Fund New Cancer Treatment Center
Nashville, TN - September 27, 2010 - Country star Darryl Worley's 9th Annual Tennessee River Run festival (9/16-9/18) was a big success this year, raising $200,000. Proceeds from monies raised will be donated to the Darryl Worley Foundation.
More than 10,000 people from all over the country attended the three-day extravaganza that took place near Worley's hometown of Savannah, Tennessee. Highlights from this year's event included a motorcyle poker run, golf tournament, songwriters round and fish fry along with two star-studded concerts.
"This may have been the best year we've ever had," says Worley. "I thank God for this awesome opportunity to help people who have nowhere else to turn and I'm truly honored and humbled by these responsibilities. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work to make this another amazing event!"
The Tennessee River Run was organized in 2001 to raise money for the Darryl Worley Foundation. Since its inception, the foundation has distributed more than a million dollars to thousands of people in need, as well as numerous local and national charities. The foundation is also funding the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center in Savannah, TN. Previously scheduled to open in 2011, the new medical facility is ahead of schedule and will now open later this year.
Next year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Tennessee River Run which will be held September 15 -17, 2011.
