at Tonight’s People’s Choice Awards
Underwood Is Now a Six-Time People’s Choice Winner
Nashville, TN – The fans have spoken, and superstar Carrie Underwood was named Favorite Country Artist at tonight’s People’s Choice Awards 2010, marking the sixth People’s Choice honor of her career. This year’s event attracted massive fan voting, with People’s Choice recently citing a record breaking 60 million online votes determining the winners.
Now with 11 #1 singles and more than 11 million in album sales to her credit, including her recently released third album, Play On, Underwood has become a consistent fan-favorite who is also the reigning fan-voted Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year.
Carrie closed 2009 with another fan-driven honor, as GAC viewers flocked to her #1 blockbuster, “Cowboy Casanova,” voting it their #1 video of the year, with the results revealed during GAC’s airing of their Top 50 Videos of 2009 special.
Underwood is on the radio now with the beautiful “Temporary Home,” the second smash from Play On, which also includes “Cowboy Casanova.”
A four-time GRAMMY Award winner, ACM Entertainer of the Year, and three-time CMA and ACM Female Vocalist winner, Underwood debuted Play On at the #1 spot on both the country and pop album sales charts, with sales now in excess of 1.1 million copies in only eight weeks. To date, Underwood has amassed more than 11 million in U.S. album sales with her 2005 debut, Some Hearts (recently named Billboard’s Top Country Album of the Decade), as well as 2007’s Carnival Ride, and 2009’s Play On. Along the way, she has consistently broken new ground and become the first country artist in history and the only American Idol winner ever to achieve ten #1 singles from their first two albums. “Cowboy Casanova,” the debut smash from Play On, recently became her 11th #1 single.
