From Jimmy Wayne's people: Nashville, TN June 12, 2009 -- It just wasn't in the cards for Jimmy Wayne to perform his first-ever LP Field CMA Music Fest concert last night in Nashville. When heavy storms rolled through the city, the concert was delayed by more than three hours. While the artist waited patiently backstage until almost midnight, the rain continued and the country music fans tried to stay dry by huddling under cover inside the stadium. When it was clear it would be well past midnight before anyone could take the stage, Wayne reluctantly had to agree to leave the stadium in order to catch a crack of dawn commercial flight to Boston, where he is scheduled to perform tonight with Brad Paisley.
"To say I am disappointed is an understatement," said Wayne. "I was excited to get to perform for this many fans, and grateful to the CMA that I had this opportunity. But I knew I'd never get to that flight on time if I didn't agree with my managers that it was time to give up. I even offered to take my guitar to where the fans were waiting for the rain to stop and play for them there, but unfortunately the fire marshall didn't think that was such a good idea. I hope the weather is great for everyone the rest of CMA Music Festival-- I'll be thinking about all the fans in Nashville while I'm out here on the road."
Wayne will tour with Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley through October. For information on the artist and the tour, please visit jimmywayne.com or his myspace page.
