On the opening day of the 3-day event, more than 75,000 fans passed through the gates—a phenomenal feat for a second-year event and on a Thursday night when attendance is expected to be its lowest. Oh, and in the rain.

Rain held off for most of the day Thursday as a steady stream of traffic backed up on Boy Scout Road. There was never a time when a dozen or more vehicles and campers weren’t in line at the gates.
But it did rain on Taylor Swift’s parade. The last act of the night, Swift came on a little after 10 p.m. and the rain began to fall. There was a mini exodus of people, but most put up their umbrellas, donned their plastic ponchos and stayed the course.
