Julianne's going to be in the movies: Footloose

It took a little while to get the details all worked out but Julianne Hough got the part she was going after in the remake of FOOTLOOSE...
Here's the story from the Hollywood trade press:

Singer, professional dancer and two-time winner of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” 20-year-old Julianne Hough will be starring in the remake of 1984’s “Footloose.”

Two-time winner of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancer Julianne Hough will be starring in a remake of 1984’s “Footloose.”
“It's Hough's first majorfilm role. Crawford signed on a month ago to star after Zac Efron decided in March against toplining another tuner after ‘High School Musical 3’ and ‘Hairspray.’”

Hough will play opposite Chace Crawford, who can be seen regularly on the CW series, “Gossip Girl.” Other rumored cast members include Amanda Bynes, who starred in the 2007 remake of “Hairspray,” and Hayden Panettiere, who starred in the 2000 sports drama motion picture, “Remember the Titans,” and is a series regular on NBC’S science fiction drama, “Heroes.”

Dylan Sellers, Kenny Ortega and Neil Meron will produce alongside Craig Zadan, who was a producer on the original Kevin Bacon get up and dance classic.

The original “Footloose” generated one of the biggest selling soundtracks of that time period and catapulted Kevin Bacon to superstardom. Since “Footloose,” Bacon has starred in such blockbuster movies as 1991’s Oliver Stone directed “JFK,” 1992’s “A Few Good Men,” 1995’s “Apollo 13” and 2003’s “Mystic River.”

John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest, the late Chris Penn and Sarah Jessica Parker also had roles in the original “Footloose.”
