A Coffee County man was found dead this morning in his camper at the BamaJam festival grounds.
The man, whose name is not being released at this time, is believed to have died as a result of positional asphyxiation, according to Capt. Mike Lolley, public information officer for the Enterprise Police Department.
“At 9:10 this morning, we were notified of a possible death at the North Campground, “ Lolley said. “EMS responded and found a white male in his early 50s in his bed in a camper.”
Preliminary investigation has determined the man went to bed with his wife and another couple at approximately midnight.
When his companions attempted to awake him this morning he would not respond.
According to Lolley, positional asphyxiation is a form of asphyxiation, or suffocation, that occurs when a person’s position prevents them from breathing.
Often, the individual will gasp for breath before losing consciousness quickly.
