Martina helps YMCA raise $72,195

Nashville, TN (June 15, 2009) - Country music superstar Martina McBride was on hand at Nashville's Hall of Fame Park on Saturday as country music fans vied over memorabilia from their favorite stars. And the best part, it was all for a good cause! The 26th annual YWCA auction with Martina McBride raised $72,195 in what was an exciting afternoon for all country music lovers.

McBride, Chris Young, Jason Michael Carroll, Bo Bice, Erika Dunlap, among others participated in the auction. High ticket items included a signed Dolly Parton guitar that sold for $4,000, an one-of-a-kind Martina McBride signed quilt (made of rare tour shirts) sold for $3,600, two VIP tickets to any Keith Urban show sold for $2,600 and a framed Martina McBride keepsake that includes a copy of the album Shine, album insert and handwritten "Ride" lyrics from songwriter, Andrew Dorff, sold for $3,500.

McBride enhanced the auction with personal items, including the dress she wore while performing for Stevie Wonder earlier this year at the White House, and applauded fans for their support.

"Thank you for coming out and supporting the YWCA. It really helps rebuild lives. Thank you again for supporting," praised Martina.

McBride supports the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee and its commitment to breaking multi-generational cycles of poverty and violence while working to eliminate racism. The YWCA helps families leave abusive households and start new lives. The organization provides free GED education to men and women and mentor middle school girls in some of Nashville's toughest neighborhoods. The YWCA exists to educate, encourage and break down those barriers that perpetuate racism, violence and hopelessness. In the span of 25 years, this event has raised more than one million dollars by auctioning donated country music-related memorabilia. Every dollar raised directly benefits the YWCA Weaver Domestic Violence Center, which last year provided over 15,000 nights of safety to women and children.

Grammy award-winner Martina McBride is a producer, artist and songwriter. Her powerhouse voice has earned her more than 18 million in album sales, garnered 23 Top 10 singles, six of which ranked number one and enjoyed success in multiple genres, and awarded her a mantle of honors, including a record tying four CMA Female Vocalist of the Year trophies. McBride's10th studio album, SHINE, released on March 24th, debuted at #1 on the Country Album charts.
