Nashville, TN (January 20, 2011)-Little Jimmy Dickens, Grand Ole Opry Legend and member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, celebrated his 90th birthday on December 19, 2010. Last night Jimmy gathered with many of his friends and family at Rippy’s on Broadway to put the finishing touches on his entry into the 90’s of his young life. He was joined by his wife Mona. Mayor of Nashville Karl Dean who read a proclamation paying tribute to Little Jimmy Dickens as a Treasure of Country Music, The Grand Ole Opry, and the City of Nashville. Jimmy was in great spirits, looked fantastic, and I know he was enjoying every minute of the belated party.
Some of those joining in celebrating Jimmy’s birthday were, Bill Anderson, Jesse Coulter, John Conlee, Dana Williams (Diamond Rio), Jan Howard, Jeannie Pruett, Buddy Cannon, David Frizzell, Bryan White, Earl Owens, Bobby G. Rice, Charlie Dick, Williams & Ree, Riders in the Sky, Rod & Jenn Harris, Steel Guitar Hall of Famers Buddy Emmons & Ron Elliott, Kyle Cantrill, TV cameras everywhere, and all media were present to cover this special event of one of country music biggest giants. The talented Danielle Peck led us in singing Happy Birthday to Jimmy, which made him happy. Tootsie’s brought Tater to the party by way of limo, and escorted him and his wife upstairs to a shindig or all shindigs with more media camera’s filming every step he walked. All kinds of great food, a guitar shaped cake, more sweets then the law should allow, and great food to take care of our appetites. A great night in Nashville for a priceless treasure in our country music.
