NASHVILLE, TN – March 7, 2011 – Taylor Swift kicked off the European leg of her SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR in Brussels, Belgium last night, with fans starting to gather outside the Forest National Arena at 9:00 a.m. Taylor brought the crowd to their feet as the curtain dropped to the first notes of “Sparks Fly,” and the enthusiastic crowd remained on their feet throughout the 90-minute show. Taylor performed on two different stages, playing several different acoustic and electric guitars, and also the piano and the ukulele during the show. Tonight the tour moves to Holland’s Ahoy Rotterdam Arena.
Taylor wrapped the Asian portion of her tour less than two weeks ago with a show at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld Expo Arena, and this year the TAYLOR SWIFT SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR will include 90 shows in 19 countries. Taylor’s shows around the globe are selling out within minutes of tickets going on sale, including stadium shows in Boston, Philadelphia and Detroit. The US portion of the tour begins May 27th in Omaha.
Taylor's new single, "Mean," the third from her 3X-Platinum Speak Now album, released on Big Machine Records, ships to Country radio today. The disc’s first two singles, “Mine” and “Back To December,” both reached #1 at radio and on iTunes, and Taylor’s appeal to radio listeners has proven stronger than ever with outstanding radio research scores. “Back To December" logged 15 weeks at #1 at Bullseye Callout America Research, and the song consistently logged Top 10 MScore Research ranks. (Nashville-based Bullseye Research produces weekly Callout America reports based on a nationwide randomly-recruited sample of Country radio listeners. MScores, produced by Media Monitors, show patterns of radio listening behavior when specific songs are aired. The information is taken from users of Arbitron's Portable People Meter (PPM), now in operation in 48 U.S. markets.)
In addition to her success at radio, Taylor’s social media presence continues to grow exponentially. She now has more than 5.5 Million Twitter followers (@taylorswift13) and 18 Million Facebook friends.
Taylor is touring the world this year in support of her Speak Now album, which shattered sales records and sold over a million copies in its first week of release.
