Mt. Juliet, TN (March 28, 2013) – Grand Ole Opry star Charlie Daniels is recovering after having a pacemaker implanted today (3-28), at a Nashville area hospital. During a doctor visit on Monday (3-25), Charlie was diagnosed with a mild case of pneumonia and admitted to the hospital for a series of routine tests. The tests revealed that a pacemaker was needed to regulate his heart rate. He plans to be released from the hospital on Friday (3-29). The family asks for your thoughts and prayers for Charlie as he recovers. He will spend the next two weeks at his home. Mal Moore has stepped down as athletics director at the University of Alabama. Moore, who has been hospitalized since March 11 with a pulmonary condition, will become a special assistant to UA President Judy Bonner. Moore was originally admitted to Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, but was later transported to Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. Last Friday, UA sent out a news release that said Moore was “resting comfortably” and undergoing tests at the North Carolina hospital, but the school has not released any information on his condition since.

The pictures from the accident scene look horrible...According to eye witnesses, country music singer David Allan Coe, 73, driving a Chevy Suburban, ran a red light heading east on SR40 at the intersection of North Pine and SR40 early Tuesday morning about 1:30 a.m. A Peterbilt semi truck, hauling corn and radishes, struck Coe's vehicle causing the semi truck to overturn in the intersection and both vehicles came to rest in the parking lot of the State Attorney's Office in Ocala, FL.
