Trace Adkins Salutes America's Troops During Third USO Tour to Middle East(Nashville, TN - November 1, 2010)...Country music star Trace Adkins expresses his heartfelt gratitude to troops during a nine-day USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour to Middle East. This is the third USO tour for Adkins, who has traveled on two USO tours since 2002 and performed for more than 7,800 troops stationed in Bahrain, Iraq and Afghanistan. Just two days into his week-long USO tour to the combat zone, Adkins has visited more than 6,000 troops stationed overseas. Among the bases Adkins has visited so far are Camp Arifjan and Contingency Operating Base Basra. Adkins' tour will officially wrap up in the U.S. with a welcome home USO concert for soldiers and their families stationed at Fort Benning, GA. The concert is free and open to all military ID holders. Adkins is a huge supporter of America's armed forces and the USO. From performing live with the West Point Cadet Glee Club at the 2009 USO Gala to visiting wounded troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, which he did again just last month, Adkins never hesitates to show he cares. In recognition of his patriotism, Adkins has been awarded the 2007 USO Merit Award, Wounded Warrior Project's (WWP) 2010 Talkhouse Award and the 2010 Medal of Honor from the Daughter's of the American Revolution. "Traveling on USO tours and visiting our nation's troops has been awe-inspiring and even overwhelming at times," says Adkins. "Whether I'm walking around a post shaking hands and signing autographs or performing for troops, I am always aware I am in the presence of heroes, and the courage and determination that those men and women show is humbling. It's an honor to get to do that and I will always jump at the chance to do it for years to come." One of country music's top headlining and in-demand artists today, Adkins has gone on to sell more than 10 million records worldwide and chart 28 hit singles. Among his many hits are "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing," "Ladies Love Country Boys" and "You're Gonna Miss This." Within his more than 14 years of making music, Adkins has also achieved reality TV stardom on Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice," dabbled in acting, written a book and even ventured into the comic book world with the launch of LUKE McBAIN, a four-part comic book series. |
