STEVE MARTIN TO RELEASE ‘ME AND PAUL REVERE’ INSPIRED BY HIS FORTHCOMING PBS PERFORMANCE ON A CAPITOL FOURTH AND FROM FACTS LEARNED FROM DAVID HACKETT FISCHERS’ BOOK,
‘PAUL REVERE’S RIDE’

Rounder To Release Single June 28th In Conjunction With Steve Martin & Steep Canyon Rangers Continuing Tour In Support Of The Chart Topping Rare Bird Alert

LOS ANGELES, CA—June 15, 2011—Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers continue their “An Evening of Bluegrass and Comedy” tour in support of their #1 bluegrass release Rare Bird Alert. On July 4th, they will be performing on A Capitol Fourth, the live PBS broadcast of America’s favorite Independence Day tradition.  Inspired by that upcoming performance and from facts learned from David Hackett Fischers’ book, “Paul Revere’s Ride,” Steve wrote and recorded a new single, “Me And Paul Revere.” Martin crafted a wonderful story about this historical ride from the perspective of Revere’s horse. Rounder Records will be releasing this single on June 28 via all digital music outlets including iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, and Rhapsody with special single cover artwork. They have already serviced the single digitally to radio via www.AirplayDirect.com.

Rare Bird Alert features 13 new Martin-penned tracks, including a live version of “King Tut,” and was produced by Tony Trischka.  Paul McCartney and the Dixie Chicks also make special guest vocal appearances.  Martin co-wrote two of the CD’s songs with the Steep Canyon Rangers.  Martin is a four-time Grammy® winner, the latest for The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo, which won Best Bluegrass Album (2009.)

On A Capitol Fourth, Steve and the Steep Canyon Rangers will be joining host Jimmy Smits and musicians Josh Groban, Matthew Morrison (Glee), Jordin Sparks (American Idol,) Little Richard, Kelli O’Hara, the Broadway cast of Million Dollar Quartet and the National Symphony Orchestra.  The live concert audience (8 – 9:30 p.m.) will draw hundreds of thousands, millions more at home via PBS, and will be broadcast to service members around the world on American Forces Network.  It can also be heard live in stereo over NPR member stations nationwide.

Steve will have another of his “Q&A” speaking dates on June 19 in Chicago and will resume his concert tour with the Steep Canyon Rangers on June 21 in Lexington, Kentucky.  Please visitwww.stevemartin.com for additional information.
