Kenny Chesney Scores Three CMA Nominations
Entertainer, Male Vocalist + Event w His Friend Mac McAnally
Greatest Hits II Featuring “I’m Alive” Available Now
Nashville: He's the reigning and 4-time Country Music Association - as well as the 4-consecutive Academy of Country Music - Entertainer of the Year, and this morning, Kenny Chesney - nose deep in his dozen major market NFL stadium Sun City Carnival Tour got the word he has the opportunity to make it 5 when the CMA Awards nominations were read on “Good Morning America.” The high-energy songwriter from Luttrell, TN walked away with nods for Entertainer, Male Vocalist and Vocal Event with good friend Mac McAnally for their multiple week #1 “Down The Road.” Chesney’s current, self-penned single, “I’m Alive,” is a duet with friend Dave Matthews and is climbing the country singles chart. The song is available on Chesney’sGreatest Hits II album available now!

“It's funny,” admitted the man who's also won the CMA Album of the Year for When the Sun Goes Down, “the more you do this, the more those nominations mean. You realize what it takes to receive an honor like this - especially from your peers who make it happen and know the work and commitment it takes. You've got to be humbled knowing what you do is recognized. For me, the last 8 years have been about how do we make it mean more, give people all the things I wanted from the artists I loved growing up… so that when they look back, this music, these nights are something they're gonna be proud to remember their youth by.”

With his Corona Extra sponsored Sun City Carnival Tour set to wrap in Indianapolis Sept. 19 - bringing to close a summer that kicked off with a series of commando Keg In The Closet shows that necessitated closing Key West's Duval Street for fans lining up for two days outside Sloppy Joe's and has seen unprecedented amounts of tickets in multiple year stadium markets Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Detroit - Chesney has had another year of music, memories and mayhem.

“Beyond the rain-out at the stadium in Dallas and how long we played in that downpour - not to mention going back and really making it something,” Chesney says of the summer of 2009, “we got to do some really memorable things: Canada for the first time, headlining some major festivals, aligning with the Hard Rock and being one of their Ambassadors of Rock and the stuff we've done with them, getting to do 'Austin City Limits' stripped down, plus the launch of No Shoes Radio which brings the culture to the fans wherever they are: from the parking lot to the boat, backstage to kicking back with my friends, not to mention having Mac out on some stadium dates to sing 'Down the Road' and putting 'I'm Alive' out - which Buddy and I originally cut with Willie Nelson for Moment of Forever - with my buddy Dave (Matthews).

“You get moving so fast, all this stuff happens and you have to keep going, moments like this force you to slow down and think about everything that goes into a nomination like this… all the pieces, the team who helps you pull stuff like this off and, especially, the faces of the fans when you're on a gator in the parking lot or flying over them on that swing we used for entrances this year.

“Obviously, I want to win Entertainer. But looking at all of this, thinking about everything we've been, everything we've seen and done, in some ways I've already won because of the memories we made. To me, that's the best thing we can do: give the fans music and memories worth remembering.”

I've always been a believer in the strength of the song. My problem is I'm a country singer who's had a lot of other musical influences, so my stuff is going to tend to be more AC. That's always been my slam in country music, that I was never a true country artist, even though &q
