TAYLOR SWIFT WINS ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR AT THE ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS TAYLOR WOWS CROWD WITH GANJO PERFORMANCE ON “MEAN” Las Vegas, NV/Nashville, TN – April 4, 2011 – Taylor Swift won top honors at last night’s Academy of Country Music Awards, taking home the coveted Entertainer of the Year Award. This was Taylor’s first time to win the ACM’s biggest prize, though she had previously earned top honors at the CMA Awards, the GRAMMYs, the American Music Awards, and the CMT Music Awards. Earlier in the evening, Taylor brought the crowd to its feet and wowed millions of television viewers with her live performance of her new single “Mean,” surprising many with her first-ever televised ganjo performance. Just after the show the Associated Press raved that 21-year old Taylor has “helped [country music’s] cool factor beyond measure.” Last night’s performance and big win capped a monumental week for Taylor, who just four days earlier wrapped the overseas portion of her SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR 2011 with a sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena. Just prior to the London show, Big Machine and Universal Music Group executives presented Taylor with a plaque commemorating 20 Million albums sold. The same week, the Academy of Country Music honored Taylor with their Jim Reeves International Award for her “outstanding contributions to the acceptance of country music throughout the world.” Taylor will kick off the North American portion of her tour on May 27th with two sold-out shows at Omaha’s Qwest Center. In total, Taylor will have headlined 97 stadium and arena shows in 19 countries this year.
