“Gettin’ You Home” Nominated for CMT Music Awards Breakthrough Video

Nashville, TN – RCA Nashville hitmaker Chris Young is climbing the Top 10 with his latest hit, “The Man I Want to Be,” and that’s just one part of the excitement surrounding Young these days, as he earns a 2010 CMT Music Awards nomination, graces the April cover of Nashville Lifestyles, and prepares to hit the road opening for superstar Alan Jackson’s Freight Train Tour.

Young will join Jackson on the road beginning with the April 8 tour kick-off in EsteroFL.  Although Chris has opened a show or two for Jackson in the past, he says he’s thrilled to be able to tour with him for an extended run, in part because he’s a Jackson fan.  Young says, “This is somebody that so many people are huge fans of his music.  But especially for me, the people that I mention when I start saying, ‘I’m a big fan of…,’ he’s always mentioned, just because I love his music; I love him as a songwriter.”

Between dates on the Jackson tour, Young will join Platinum-selling headliner Miranda Lambert, opening a pair of dates May 7 and May 8 on her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour.

In addition to watching for Chris on tour, fans can be looking for him on the cover of the April issue of Nashville Lifestyles, on stands now, as he talks about some of his favorite Music City destinations.

Later this month, viewers can tune-in to see Young as he joins noted author, personality, and the matriarch of country journalism Hazel Smith as her special guest on the April 17 episode of her popular CMT series, Southern Fried Flicks with Hazel Smith

Chris is currently climbing the country airplay Top 10 with “The Man I Want to Be,” which this week becomes the #1 Greatest Gainer on the Nielsen BDS country airplay rankings, reflecting the greatest airplay increase of any song on the chart.

“The Man I Want to Be” is the follow-up to Young’s #1 blockbuster, “Gettin’ You Home,” which earlier today garnered a 2010 CMT Music Awards nomination for USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year.  First-round fan voting is underway now through May 3 at CMT.com.

Both “The Man I Want to Be” and “Gettin’ You Home” are from Young’s acclaimed sophomore album, The Man I Want to Be, available now.
