CHARLIE DANIELS TO HOST AMERICA’S OPRY WEEKEND STAR-SPANGLED SPECIAL
INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND

NASHVILLETenn. (June 17, 2010)  American icon and Grand Ole Opry memberCharlie Daniels has been tapped to host the America’s Opry Weekend Star-Spangled Special over Independence Day Weekend. The show is available to country radio stations across America from Westwood One.  Throughout the special, Daniels will share country music’s biggest hits so far this summer, live cuts from the Opry stage, and musical salutes to the red, white and blue.  Among the songs and artists included in the special are “All American Girl,” Carrie Underwood; “Water,” Brad Paisley; “American Honey,” Lady Antebellum; “Firecracker,” Josh Turner; and of course theCharlie Daniels Band’s  “In America” and “Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
Daniels, known for his fiddle playing, has been a music icon for over 50 years.  CDB music, as Daniels likes to call it, is an exhilarating mixture of rock, country, bluegrass, blues, and gospel.  Daniels’ boundless energy and strong support for our nation have helped shape him as one of the country’s most recognized patriots.  The Opry member’s next CD release, the patriotic compilation LAND THAT I LOVE , (release date 8/10) will include two new cuts being released for digital download on July 4th (“Iraq Blues” and “What This World Needs is a Few More Rednecks”) on Blue Hat Records/E1 Ent.
