YWCA Celebrity Auction with Martina McBride Breaks $100,000
Nashville, TN (June 15, 2010) YWCA Celebrity Auction with Martina McBride brought in an incredible $102,289.00 on Sunday, a 29% increase over last year. Martina McBride, who has hosted the charity auction since 1995, had the highest bid of the day, pulling in $11,000 each for two identical handwritten, autographed and framed lyrics for “She’s a Butterfly,” written by Big Kenny who was there with her to auction the pieces – bringing in a total of $22,000.
“It is Martina’s genuine support and the devotion of her fans that help make the auction so successful each year,” noted Pat Shea, CEO of the YW. “It is so amazing to me that Martina has helped us raise over $100,000 in a few hours,” Shea continued. “Those dollars will help the YWCA help women and children who need counseling, medical care, support and emergency shelter as they flee violent homes. We are very grateful to Martina,” concluded Shea.
Other big ticket items in the auction included a Brad Paisley guitar with a meet and greet for $6,000, a framed Keith Urban meet and greet and autographed “Living Right Now” concert dvd for $3800 and a Martina McBride autographed and framed Grand Old Opry poster (announcing Martina’s induction to the Opry) for $4600.
