COUNTRY MUSIC SUPERSTAR BRAD PAISLEY INKS FIRST MAJOR BOOK DEAL WITH HOWARD BOOKS/SIMON & SCHUSTER

DIARY OF A PLAYER, to Release November 1st

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 15, 2011) CMA Entertainer of the Year Brad Paisley will publish his first major book titled DIARY OF A PLAYER with Howard Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster. The new book will be released Nov. 1 and is a salute to the guitar gods of country, blues, and rock & roll who have shaped his life.  The book is co-written with David Wild, a contributing editor to Rolling Stone and an Emmy nominated television writer and producer.

Brad Paisley was given his first guitar as a gift from his grandfather when he was eight years old—a gift that would change the whole direction of his life.  By twelve, Paisley had written his first song and at thirteen he began opening public performances for country giants including The Judds, Ricky Skaggs, and George Jones. Now in his thirties, Paisley is a critically acclaimed music megastar.  DIARY OF A PLAYER is the very personal story of how Paisley’s musical heroes made a guitar man out of him. “It is a love letter to the guitar,” said Howard Books vice president and publisher, Jonathan Merkh. “The book pays homage to an instrument that Paisley realized was his only real constant no matter how he changed and evolved.”   When life gets intense, Paisley said, “There are some people who drink, who seek counseling, eat, or watch TV, cry, sleep, and so on. I play.”

Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year and Grand Ole Opry member Brad Paisley is a consummate singer, songwriter, guitarist and entertainer, which has earned him three GRAMMYs, 14 Country Music Association Awards and 14 Academy of Country Music Awards.  He has placed 20 #1 singles at the top of the charts, the latest a duet with Carrie Underwood, “Remind Me.” Paisley’s current album, THIS IS COUNTRY MUSIC, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart with more than 152,000 albums sold according to Nielsen SoundScan, marking the chart’s best first-week sales of 2011. Paisley will co-host “The 45th Annual CMA Awards” with Carrie Underwood for the fourth consecutive year, live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 9th at 8:00-11:00 PM/ET on ABC.  Paisley is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, Album (THIS IS COUNTRY MUSIC), Musical Event and Video (“Old Alabama”).
