JO DEE MESSINA

TO PERFORM THIS SATURDAY IN NASHVILLE AT

WOMEN’S RUNNING MAGAZINE’S HALF MARATHON

AS WELL AS AT

THE GRAND OLE OPRY AT RYMAN

Multi-platinum and award-winning country singer/songwriter JO DEE MESSINA will take part in two special events this Saturday (9/25) in Nashville.  Just after dawn, JO DEE will sing the national anthem at the “Women’s Running Magazine Women’s Half Marathon Series,” which starts in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.  JO DEE, an avid runner herself, will also run the associated 5K race.  Then later that evening at 9:00PM, she’ll perform at the Grand Ole Opry on the Ryman Stage and will be interviewed on the Opry’s syndicated radio show, “America’s Opry Weekend.”  Also performing that evening are Jimmy Wayne and Janie Fricke.

Info on the race can be found here: http://www.womenshalfmarathon.com/nashville/

A list of stations can be found here: http://www.opry.com/tune-in/AOW.html

Recently, JO DEE hosted the St. Jude Music Fest Road Race held in conjunction with the 2010 CMA Music Festival and also performed at the Ryman to aid in the Nashville flood recovery efforts.

On the music front, April 27 marked the release of the critically acclaimed “Unmistakable: Love,” EP of which Billboard’s Wade Jessen said “…arrives at a time when country music finds itself in desperate need of new material from solo female artists who can deliver the goods. Enter the feisty redhead…Her own life experiences bring an authenticity to her vocal delivery…The singer has always known her way around a country ballad, and she wears those shoes comfortably on the soaring ‘Unmistakable’ and the tender ‘I'm Home.’ This is all-grown-up country music, delivered by a seasoned pro who sings with authority about the human condition (5/15/10).”  Bill Brotherton of the Boston Herald noted, “These seven tunes (two co-written by Messina, the rest by a posse of pros including ‘Idol’ judge Kara DioGuardi) plus two live acoustic bonus cuts show a more vulnerable, introspective Messina, and they suit her strong, expressive contralto (5/14/10)” and Country Weekly’s Jessica Phillips added, “Jo Dee’s voice is still powerful, honest and evocative, especially on the power ballads ‘I Think About Us’ and ‘Unmistakable’ (2/1/10).”

I've always been a believer in the strength of the song. My problem is I'm a country singer who's had a lot of other musical influences, so my stuff is going to tend to be more AC. That's always been my slam in country music, that I was never a true country artist, even though &q

ARRESTED now in Colorado...but what a story and week for 2 brothers and their stripper sister! Text messages and tweets by three fugitive siblings who shot at a police officer and robbed a bank reveal a dangerous mindset and a firm bond between the siblings, "We've certainly seen their mindset when... They shot at a law enforcement officer outside of Tampa Bay, Fla., and when they fired inside that bank in Valdosta, Ga. But these additional texts and tweets have given us additional insight," FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett told "Good Morning America" today. " We are concerned and feel that they are going to continue and cause problems to say the least for law enforcement." Ryan Dougherty, 21; his sister Lee Grace E.
