Dwight Yoakam to Perform at the 26th Annual Love Ride, Taking Place October 25, With Jay Leno as the Fundraiser’s Grand Marshal

Love Ride, the World’s Largest 1-Day Motorcycle Charity Event and Climax of California Bike Week, Celebrates with Special Events Including Stunts, BBQ & A Screening of the 40th Anniversary Edition of EASY RIDER

Los Angeles, CA, September 29, 2009: The 3rd Annual California Bike Week hits Southern California for a three-day festival, taking place October 23-25at the Pomona Fairplex, and climaxing with the 26th Annual Love Ride on Sunday, October 25. The largest one-day motorcycle fundraiser, Love Ridehas raised over $21 million for charity since 1984. Jay Leno will preside as Grand Marshal, as he’s done since the ride’s inception, as approximately 20,000 bikers from around the world start their engines at 9AM at Love Ride founder Oliver Shokouh’s Harley-Davidson®/Buell of Glendale (3717 San Fernando Rd., Glendale, CA 91204) and cruise up Glendale’s main drag, Brand Boulevard, before heading to the Fairplex for a concert with Dwight Yoakam and others to be announced soon.

In addition to Leno, celebrity riders include Honorary Grand Marshals Peter Fonda, Robert Patrick and Willie G. Davidson, and long-time Love Ridesupporter Michael Madsen who will be hosting a signing for his latest book, American Badass, at the Fairplex on SundayOct. 25.

Shokouh launched the Love Ride in 1984 as a means to raise much needed funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The annual event now channels funds to a diverse array of non-profit organizations, mostly local Southern California and children’s charities such as Autism Speaks, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Children's Hospital of L.A., Providence Saint Joseph Foundation, Special Olympics of Southern California, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Frostig Center, Scleroderma Foundation, Glendale Community College, Optimist Youth Homes, Diabetes Institute for Immunology and Transplantation, Friends of Castaic Lake and the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.

Love Ride is about helping those less fortunate—this year, more than ever, there are so many people who need our assistance. Through the generosity of participants and sponsors of 2008’s Love Ride, we raised $1 million.  I know that everyone is going to step up and help us exceed that figure,” saidShokouh.

California Bike Week is jointly presented by the Love Ride Foundation and the Southern California Harley-Davidson Dealers Association(www.harley4fun.com). It is a motorcycle and lifestyle event and, in the two days leading up to the Love Ride, will offer a full itinerary of special events:

Friday, Oct. 23 (10AM-11PM): CBW’s opening day features Harley demo rides, stunt shows, the Wall of Death, The Victor McLagen Stunt Team, the Vendor Village, and Latin Bike Night, hosted by top Latin Rock DJ, Viktor Serralde of Radio Super EstrellaViktor is also a Univision TV host and recording artist who's last LP was produced by Latin Rock Superstars, Mana. He will be performing that night and will host a Harley-Davidson joint venture –Ride With Serralde Contest – as a part of the event.

Saturday, Oct. 24 (10AM-11PM): The highlight event is the AMA/Gene Romero Grand National Flat Track Championship. This event will see the AMA’s National Pro Series return to California for the first time in ten years and it is also the final AMA Pro Flat Track race of the year. Spectator gates open at3PM and the first race begins at 6:30PM.

This year, Love Ride 26 has partnered with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to celebrate the 40th anniversary of EASY RIDER and the film’s release on high-definition Blu-ray Disc™ on October 13, adding a new dimension to the world-famous motorcycle fundraiser. “We’re excited about the 2009 ride, and marking EASY RIDER’S 40th anniversary is a fun new way to shed more light on what we’re doing,” said Shokouh. Released the same year as Woodstock,EASY RIDER’S rock ‘n roll soundtrack and anti-establishment storyline captured the era, and unforgettable performances by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopperand Jack Nicholson made it a counterculture classic.  EASY RIDER-themed promotions, music, and giveaways will be part of the action throughoutCalifornia Bike Week and Love Ride 26 and the film will be screened Sunday evening at the Fairplex.
