NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A home burglary ring was busted Monday morning thanks to the help of a south Nashville man.
Metro police arrested two men at the intersection of Nolensville Pike and Harding road around 9:30 a.m.
Investigators believe the men may be part of a home burglary ring that stretched across south Nashville.
Police were tipped off by a resident, Robert Dale Brown, who spotted the burglars trying to rob his neighbor's home on Cherrywood Drive.
“I was looking out this window, and I could see them clearly, and I watched them for a while. I went back into the house and I said (to my wife) something’s going on. I’m going to have to try and stop it,” said Brown.
Brown’s wife called police. The burglars drove away when Brown walked up to the house, but nearby police stopped them about a mile away and made the arrests.
“If we don’t take care of each other, who is? It helps police stop these situations and if we don’t do it. We're in trouble,” said Brown.
Police said the public’s tips are one of their best tools in fighting crime. If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call 862-8600.
