■ CMT, MTV, VH1 AND MTV INTERNATIONAL TO DEBUT TAYLOR SWIFT’S “MINE” IN GLOBAL EVENT ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 27: Reaching more than 160 countries around the world, sister networks CMT, MTV, VH1 and MTV International will team up to present the global premiere of Taylor Swift’s new video “Mine” on Friday, August 27. The first single from Swift’s upcoming album Speak Now, “Mine,” was rushed to radio after being leaked across the internet and debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs Chart and #3 on Billboard’s Hot 100. With the Hot 100 distinction, Big Machine Records’ Swift joins Mariah Carey as the only female artist in history to debut more than one single in the Top 5 in a calendar year. The eagerly-anticipated video will touch all of the MTV Music Group channels and websites in a cross-channel, cross-platform event featuring simultaneous online premieres and heavy on-air promotion, including a half-hour special to air across CMT, MTV and VH1. CMT.com, MTV.com and VH1.com, along with MTV International sites, will present “Mine” in an exclusive online premiere roadblock beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET. MTV will debut the video on-air during its primetime lineup Friday at 9 p.m. ET/PT, while VH1 is set to air the video as part of its highly-rated weekly series VH1 TOP 20 VIDEO COUNTDOWN on Saturday, August 28 at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT. Prior to its online premiere, CMT and CMT.com will premiere the video first as part of an exclusive half-hour LIVE special when CMT PREMIERES TAYLOR SWIFT “MINE” airs Friday, August 27 at 8:00-8:30 p.m. ET/PT. MTV will retelecast the special Saturday, August 28 at 10 a.m. ET/PT; while VH1 is set to air it Saturday, August 28 at 4 p.m. ET/PT. Swift will introduce the video for the very first time before a live audience in CMT PREMIERES TAYLOR SWIFT “MINE” as she returns to the towns of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, Maine where the video was filmed with co-star Toby Hemingway. The special includes a behind-the-scenes look as she gives CMT host Katie Cook a tour of the quaint towns, and offers personal insight into how this latest video came to life. “Mine” was co-directed by Swift and Roman White. ■ JARON RELEASES NEW SINGLE 'THAT'S BEAUTIFUL TO ME'; VIDEO SHOOT ON DECK: Jaron of Jaron And The Long Road To Love has established himself as someone who clearly doesn't shy away from what he feels with his breakout hit "Pray For You", but listeners who are anticipating another sarcastic single will be surprised that the follow-up track, "That's Beautiful To Me," is anything but that. Sure the song has Jaron's original stylings, but as he tells us, this poignant song is just a simple, candid look at love on its finest day. "This song represents the greatest pinnacle that I have achieved in love," notes the rising star, currently on Toby Keith's AMERICAN RIDE Tour. "When you start dating someone, everything they do is cute... '46 pillows all over the bed - honey, get me roses but don't buy red - you go to buy a dog and come home with three.' But after a while some of the cute things can become annoying. But if you stick around long enough, it all becomes Beautiful again. It's the final song on the album, and I chose to end the album on a positive note because I truly believe that even though love can hurt so badly at times, the upside makes the gamble worth it." Jaron is currently prepping for the music video shoot for "That's Beautiful To Me", a two day shoot slated for August 31st and Sept 1st in Los Angeles. The new single officially impacts Country radio on September 7th.
■ STEEL MAGNOLIA DRAWN TO NEW SINGLE FOR ITS HONESTY: Steel Magnolia have achieved a lot in the year since their debut single “Keep On Lovin’ You” logged a record-setting climb into the top 5 at radio. In addition to landing four major award nominations from the Academy of Country Music Awards and the CMT Music Awards, Joshua Scott Jones and Meghan Linsey are performing in one of the coveted opening spots on Brad Paisley’s H2O World Tour this year. So, it is no wonder that lots of pressure was placed on the duo’s follow-up single, but with the song already sitting inside the Top 40, “Just By Being You (Halo And Wings)” looks poised to continue their wave of success. As to the early connection to the song, Josh attributes it to the track’s honesty: “I think it’s just a real honest song about two people wanting to strip away all the nonsense and get down to what’s real in life and shut out everybody and everything that makes you feel uncomfortable or out of place, shut out the daily grind of life.” Josh continues, stressing that this song reminds them to keep it real. “I think you just have to stay positive and focused every day. I mean everybody has their days and their ups and downs, and Meghan and I have been through a lot, I mean even personally before we met each other,” notes Josh. “Everybody has a story and nobody is perfect, and that’s what this song talks about. I think that’s another reason – if people are honest, if they listen to the lyrics, they can relate.”
