CMA SONGWRITERS SERIES RETURNS TO CHICAGO OCT. 8-9 WITH KIX BROOKS, THE BAND PERRY, DAVID LEE MURPHY, AND HOST BOB DIPIERO
NASHVILLE - The popular CMA Songwriters Series has played to sell-out crowds in New York City for the past six years, while also travelling to cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC. The shows put a spotlight on the songwriters behind the hits and also feature artists who are known as much for their songwriting as they are for performing. The CMA Songwriters Series will return to Chicago for the second consecutive year with two shows hosted byBob DiPiero and featuring Kix Brooks, The Band Perry, and David Lee Murphy on Friday, Oct. 8 (9:00 PM/CT) at Joe's Bar, and onSaturday, Oct. 9 (3:00 PM/CT) at the Chicago Country Music Festival.
As one-half of the superstar Country duo Brooks & Dunn, Brooks has won 19 CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year and an unprecedented 14 wins as Vocal Duo of the Year. The duo, who hosted the CMA Awards for three consecutive years (2004-2006), is currently in the midst of their Farewell Tour, which concludes on Sept. 2 in Nashville. Brooks was recognized in 2009 as the CMA National Broadcast Personality of the Year for his role as the host of the syndicated "American Country Countdown" weekly radio program. He is also widely praised for his songwriting prowess, having written or co-written such classic Brooks & Dunn hits as "Red Dirt Road," "Only in America," "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone," "Brand New Man," and more.
The Band Perry is made up of siblings Kimberly, Neil, and Reid Perry. The group scored their first Top 20 hit earlier this year with their debut single, "Hip To My Heart," written by the trio and Brett Beavers. But it's their second single, the thought-provoking "If I Die Young,"  that is bringing them to the attention of fans throughout the world. Penned by Kimberly Perry and developed with her brothers, "If I Die Young" has become one of the summer's most talked-about songs in Country Music, with download sales now exceeding 40,000 copies per week and countless YouTube versions of the song posted daily. Both singles are on The Band Perry's five-song, self-titled EP. Their full-length debut album on Republic Nashville is set for release on Oct. 12.
Murphy wrote or co-wrote every song on his debut album, Out With a Bang, including "Just Once" (featured on the soundtrack of the movie 8 Seconds), "Dust on the Bottle" (which spent two weeks at No. 1), and "Party Crowd," which was named the  most-played song on Country radio in 1995. In addition to his own successful performing career, Murphy has written No. 1 hits for Kenny Chesney ("Living in Fast Forward") and Jason Aldean ("Big Green Tractor"). Other artists to record Murphy's songs include Gary Allan, Danny Gokey, Randy Houser, Reba McEntire, Montgomery Gentry, James Otto, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Josh Thompson, Trick Pony, Hank Williams Jr., and Chris Young.
Host DiPiero is one of Nashville's most consistent and prolific writers of hits, remaining at the top of his profession more than two decades after hitting No. 1 on the charts for the first time in 1983. In addition to writing with numerous songwriters and artists in the Country Music genre, he has also written with Neil Diamond, Carole King, Delbert McClinton, and Johnny Van Zant, among others. Among the artists who have scored hits with songs written by DiPiero are: Brooks and Dunn ("You Can't Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl"), Vince Gill ("Worlds Apart"), Faith Hill ("Take Me As I Am"), Martina McBride ("There You Are"), Tim McGraw ("Southern Voice"), Montgomery Gentry ("If You Ever Stop Loving Me"), Oak Ridge Boys ("American Made"), Richochet ("Daddy's Money"), Shenandoah ("The Church on Cumberland Road"), George Strait ("Blue Clear Sky"), and more.  Among his many honors are two CMA Triple Play Awards (1995 and 1996) and 36 BMI Country and Million-Air honors.

ARRESTED now in Colorado...but what a story and week for 2 brothers and their stripper sister! Text messages and tweets by three fugitive siblings who shot at a police officer and robbed a bank reveal a dangerous mindset and a firm bond between the siblings, "We've certainly seen their mindset when... They shot at a law enforcement officer outside of Tampa Bay, Fla., and when they fired inside that bank in Valdosta, Ga. But these additional texts and tweets have given us additional insight," FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett told "Good Morning America" today. " We are concerned and feel that they are going to continue and cause problems to say the least for law enforcement." Ryan Dougherty, 21; his sister Lee Grace E. Dougherty, 29; and half-brother Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26, have been on the lam since Aug. 2 when they shot at a police officer attempting to pull their white Subaru Impreza over for speeding.
