ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY TO HONOR JEFF GORDON WITH RACE WEEKEND TRIBUTE

HAMPTON, Ga. (Feb. 9, 2015) – In 1992, few could have predicted that when Jeff Gordon strapped into the No. 24 car for Hendrick Motorsports at Atlanta Motor Speedway for his first Sprint Cup Series start on Nov. 15 of that year that he was embarking on a career more than two decades long to become one of the sport’s foremost icons. Twenty-three years and four Sprint Cup Series championships later, Gordon will return March 1 to Atlanta, still driving the No. 24 for Hendrick Motorsports, to compete for his sixth career victory there, as his final full-time season behind the wheel begins in earnest. Through the years, both Gordon and his fans have made countless memories, many of which are rooted in his Atlanta success and the four championships he has celebrated at the storied track. “The first thing that really comes to my mind is that I just love Atlanta. It’s a great track for us – one track that I always feel competitive at with a shot to win,” said Gordon. “I hope there’s one more memory left to come coming up in a few weeks.” As part of the weekend tribute to Gordon, Atlanta Motor Speedway has established a commemorative ticket package for his final race in Atlanta as a full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver. Fans who take advantage of the extremely limited Jeff Gordon ticket package will receive $24 off individual tickets in the Upper Winners Grandstand, Upper Champions Grandstand or Upper Earnhardt Grandstand for the March 1 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. Additionally, fans who renew their tickets for 2016 will be invited to special event with Gordon in attendance during next year’s race weekend, as well as an automatic entry into the Atlanta Motor Speedway Insider’s Club. Fans attending the March 1 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 are encouraged to use the #IWasThereJG hashtag and mention @AMSupdates on Twitter to share their own special moments and memories from Gordon’s NASCAR career. From videos of past races to photos while meeting Jeff, each fan can be a part of history as the four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion competes in his final full-time season. Since his first ever Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1992, Gordon has gone on to win at Atlanta five separate times, including a very special 85th career win in 2011. A win on March 1 would tie Gordon with Bobby Labonte and Richard Petty for third-most career Sprint Cup Series wins at Atlanta Motor Speedway with six.
