Christmas Without You - Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton

BRAD PAISLEY UNVEILS LITTLE JIMMY DICKENS WAX FIGURE AT GRAND OLE OPRY

World-famous wax attraction pays tribute to icon’s lasting mark on country music
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 19, 2016) – Madame Tussauds, the world-renowned wax attraction slated to open its newest location in Nashville this spring, and country superstar Brad Paisley joined forces to pay tribute to Grand Ole Opry legend Little Jimmy Dickens. While appearing on Saturday night’s Opry at The Ryman show, Paisley honored his longtime friend by playing the Little Jimmy Dickens hit “Out Behind the Barn” and unveiling the late singer’s figure to a sold-out audience.
Little Jimmy Dickens, famous for his humorous novelty country songs and his small 4-foot-11-inch stature, had a profound impact on country music. Not only is Dickens credited for introducing rhinestone-studded outfits to live country music performances, he was also the first country artist to circle the globe while on tour. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry more than 60 years ago. Dickens was the oldest living member of the Opry before his death in early 2015.
“I’m floored at the likeness,” said Brad Paisley. “Jimmy gave the Opry the personality it deserved. He was the kindest to new artists of anybody. He was never judgmental and he was always extremely supportive. He was a man who loved everyone and I’m honored to sing one of his songs (“Out Behind the Barn”).”
Each Madame Tussauds figure is truly a work of art, involving teams of professional artists and sculptors who spend months on extensive research and take more than 300 measurements to recreate world-famous icons, to achieve the kind of astonishing realism that has been at the heart of the 250-year Madame Tussauds legacy.
The life-like figure, which portrays Jimmy from the 1960’s, is adorned with one of Dickens’ signature rhinestone-studded suits designed by his original tailors, a “JD” ring, cowboy boots and cowboy hat. His figure’s friendly, relaxed expression was decided upon by his wife so guests had the opportunity to experience the twinkle in his eye. His figure will be perched on a stool, playing a personalized guitar in a broadcast setting within the attraction.

With a completely different concept, the attraction in Nashville will be the company’s first offering in the U.S. that focuses solely on music icons that have shaped America’s musical landscape. Guests are encouraged to have fun with the famous stars from musical genres such as Country, Rock n Roll, Jazz, Blues and Pop.
Additional figures hitting the stage at Madame Tussauds Nashville include Carrie Underwood, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, BeyoncĂ©, Minnie Pearl and Johnny Cash. More artists will be added to the bill within the coming weeks.
Guests can save $5 off the regular price by purchasing early bird tickets to the attraction. The tickets can be redeemed anytime following the grand opening until the end of 2017. Purchasing early bird tickets will provide guests with the opportunity to be one of the first to experience the attraction. These limited-time-only tickets are $19 for adults and $14 for children ages 3-12. Prices will return to regular attraction price following the grand opening. Ages two and under are free.

9 Million and Counting!!!

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (December 14, 2016) – Millions watched Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund telethon and millions were raised. The telethon, broadcast on GAC, AXS-TV, RFD and The Heartland Network Tuesday, received huge donations from music stars like Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Chris Stapleton, Chris Young, Paul Simon and Dierks Bentley but also from families across the country who just want to give the people of Dolly’s home area a hand up in the tragic wildfires.

“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the people who have donated from all over the country and to my friends who donated their time, their talent, and money for My People,” Dolly Parton explained. “The response has been so overwhelming that we haven’t been able to count all of the donations yet; right now, in total, we have raised about $9 million dollars for the folks who lost everything in Sevier County.”

The total amount raised is expected to rise as mail donations are counted and the telethon is rebroadcast to new audiences over the next five days.

Anyone who would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to the My People Fund may visit dollywoodfoundation.org. For those wishing to send donations via mail, those contributions should be sent to: My People Fund, c/o Dollywood Foundation, 111 Dollywood Lane, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863. Donations are also being accepted by texting DOLLY to 501501 for a onetime $10 donation or DOLLY25 to 501501 for a onetime $25 donation. Messaging and data rates will apply.

More than 1300 families have been displaced due to the wildfires which spread across Parton’s home area of Sevier County, Tennessee in late November. The entertainment icon established the Dollywood Foundation My People Fund to provide $1000 each month for six months to every family who lost their primary residence.

Artists who donated their performances to the effort include: Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams Jr., Chris Stapleton, Reba McEntire, Alison Krauss, Michael W. Smith, Chris Janson, Big & Rich, LOCASH, Chris Young, Montgomery Gentry, Jamey Johnson, Cyndi Lauper, Don McLean, Amy Grant, Alabama, Aaron Lewis and Rhonda Vincent.

Charlie Daniels at 80 and his Volunteer Jam

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 1, 2016) – A sell-out event, the Charlie Daniels 80th Birthday Volunteer Jam hit a capacity of 15,784 patrons in the building and was a star-studded show with a portion of the proceeds benefitting The Journey Home Project. The event featured guests 3 Doors Down, Luke Bryan, Kid Rock, Larry The Cable GuyChris Stapleton and Travis Tritt with the Charlie Daniels Band for another historic jam. The jam featured a variety of the artists singing standards like “Can’t You See” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”

Charlie Daniels was surprised with the Rare Country Humanitarian of the Year Award by Randy Travis and Lt. General Keith Huber before playing his mega-hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” to a sold out crowd at his 80th Birthday Volunteer Jam at Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday evening.

“Looking back over my 50 plus year career, this is among the top five shows I have ever done in my entire life, Volunteer Jam 2016,” said Charlie Daniels of the momentous occasion.

Since 1974, Daniels has commissioned his musical friends and peers to come together on a “volunteer” basis to hang out, “jam” together, and entertain crowds in an unconventional, laid-back fashion unknown to any other concert event -- all while dedicating concert proceeds to worthy causes. This year’s event featured extra special “jam” sessions with some of Charlie’s most prolific friends who celebrated the Country Music Hall of Famer, his birthday, and his many accomplishments.

A portion of the proceeds from the night went to the The Journey Home Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit co-founded by Daniels and manager, David Corlew, to help Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. For more info on The Journey Home Project..
