Riders in the SkyNashville, TN - At 6:53 a.m. Saturday, a special dedication to mission specialist Alvin Drew came by way of the familiar tune, “Woody’s Roundup,” performed by "America's Favorite Cowboys" Riders In The Sky. The song was played to wake him and his fellow crew members up for the final mission on the Space Shuttle Discovery.

"Woody’s Roundup" a Riders In The Sky classic written by Randy Newman, was played in dedication to Drew as it woke the crew to begin preparing for the last docking to the International Space Station. The song is famously known for its use on the Toy Story 2 sound track, and the Riders In The Sky recognize this new honor as being out of this world. Ranger Doug says it best: “From the New Frontier to the Final Frontier, it’s the Cowboy Way!”

Following the soothing wake up call was a long day of preparation met by the hatches being opened for the final time between the ISS and Discovery at 4:16p.m., prompting the joint phase of the STS-133 mission. Both crews took part in a brief but exciting welcoming ceremony which included handshakes and hugs as well as a brief exchange of stories and adventures.  The Shuttle arm then exchanged the ELC4 back for installation on the stations's starboard trust after moving the base of Canadarm 2.  It will now be held there for spare parts, which includes a spare radiator.

This marks the final trip for the Discovery to the orbiting outlet.

The crews then went to work preparing the stations robotic arm to remove the Express Logistic Carrier 4 from the shuttle's cargo bay and exchange it with the shuttle's arm.

Being a part of history is something the Riders In The Sky team has been used to for some time now, but taking their music outside the globe is something only a few can claim as an accolade. When asked if space really was the final frontier for the Riders In the Sky, bassist and funnyman Too Slim had only this to say: “Next Stop: To infinity… and beyond!”

The Monster Hit Also Holds Steady at No. One on iTunes
Nashville, Tenn. – Feb. 28, 2011 – Country music superstar Jason Aldean’s powerful duet with Kelly Clarkson “Don’t You Wanna Stay” reached the top spot on the Billboard Country Singles chart today becoming the ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee’s sixth career No. one.  The second release off his PLATINUM album MY KINDA PARTY also continues to hold strong in the No. one position on iTunes’ Top 10 Country Songs.

“It’s a pretty killer birthday present, that’s for sure!  My family and friends are going to have to work VERY VERY hard to beat what country radio and the fans have already given me today,” laughed Aldean.  “On a serious note, I am really proud of this song.  Anybody who says they wouldn’t be nervous to try and go note for note with a vocalist like Kelly Clarkson is straight up lying to you!  So, I do feel a huge sense of accomplishment to have pulled it off in the studio and on live tv with her, and then for everyone else to have responded to it the way they’s just incredible, and you never take those things for granted.”

Aldean’s MY KINDA PARTY TOUR is sold out again this weekend in Charlottesville, Va., Lexington, Ky. and Toledo, Ohio. For more information and a full list of tour dates, visit

This is what internet blogger Nikki Finke wrote that got her reporter for the Oscar's credential removed...It's their party and they can remove whomever they chose...and they chose to remove this publication for revealing the show's rundown.....
Hundreds of people in LA who go to the rehearsals know this's secret to the hundreds and someone leaked it out...WikiOscar leaks...It may or may not be accurate....but here it is...
Courtesy of Deadline...Nikki Finke...go find it on the internet...great site!

Steven Spielberg will award Best Picture ... Hilary Swank and Kathryn Bigelow will hand out Best Director ... Hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway pop up almost every minute and make at least 5 wardrobe changes and open the show with one of those Billy Crystal-originated films putting themselves into scenes from all the 10 nominated movies ... UPDATE: A "Guest Host" will perform a monologue about 2/3s of the way into the show and the person isn't identified and every insider isn't talking -- but I bet it's Billy Crystal (which could make these Oscars worth watching)* ... Florence (of Florence And The Machine) will perform with A.R. Rahman the 127 Hours song "If I Rise" ... Celine Dion will sing "Smile" during the In Memoriam segment ... A tribute to Lena Horne will be presented by Halle Berry ... So-called 'Scenic Transitions' to Hollywood's past will consist of virtual reality lookbacks (at the very first Oscars, the films Gone With The Wind andLord Of The Rings, movie music from The Silent Era and Broadway Melody and THX, the first televised Academy Awards in black & white, and Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood) ... New writers will join Bruce Vilanch and John Mack including Grammy Awards vet David Wilde and Judd Apatow-regular Jordan Rubin  ... Presenters won't have to read those lame jokes ... UPDATE: The student choir from the New York City/Staten Island School PS 22 student choir is going to close the show by singing "Over the Rainbow" fromThe Wizard Of Oz ...* These are pretty much the only interesting moments awaiting the audience Sunday when the show airs starting at 5 PM and continues for what feels like an eternity.

dont tell anyone ...this is all secret!  They may come get your tv and make you watch the National Geographic Channel while the Oscars are on!!! shhhhhhh

Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by Nissan Returns for a 12th Year
New Course to Highlight Scenery, Runner Experience
Nashville, TN – February 24, 2011 – The musical miles that wind through Nashville each spring will feature a few changes as the 12th annual Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by Nissan returns on Saturday, April 30th. The event remains the largest running event in the state of Tennessee, bringing more than 30,000 runners and walkers to the Nashville area, along with thousands of spectators, friends and family.

The scenic running tour of Music City will feature live, local bands at nearly every mile, cheerleading teams, and themed water stations, offering motivation and entertainment along both the 13.1 and 26.2 mile courses. Runners will enjoy many of Nashville’s most historic sites like the Parthenon, Nashville’s world-renowned Music Row and an expansive finish line festival outside the Tennessee Titan’s home, LP Field, located along the Cumberland River.
The redesigned course will offer a familiar start line at Centennial Park, and will still finish at LP Field, but on the north side on 1st Street to accommodate more participant parking. Other notable changes include eliminating the out and back on Belmont Boulevard and instead redirecting south on Belmont and back north toward Music Row on Granny White Pike, removing a stretch of the full marathon course through Metro Center and adding a run through the east Nashville neighborhoods. Changes were made primarily to enhance the runner experience by alleviating crowding, and highlighting spectator-heavy areas and scenic routes.

“After more than a decade in Nashville, we are continuing to learn and grow and will always do our best to make this the best possible experience for both the city and our race participants,” said Adam Zocks, General Manager. “We’re proud of the tradition this race has become locally and look forward to celebrating our 12th year here.”

Lambert Brings Her 4th Annual Cause for the Paws Benefit

Nashville, TN (February 24, 2011) --- Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Miranda Lambert began rescuing “strays” at the age of 3. First, 2 kittens (Molly and Daisy) then along came her first rescue puppy, a beagle named Ruby. She later moved to her hometown of Lindale, TX and her passion continued. Twenty five years later (and more than 20 adopted animals), Lambert’s bringing her “Cause for the Paws” back to where it all began.  On April 30th, the 4th Annual Cause for the Paws Benefit will be held at the “Festival on the Square” site in downtown Tyler, TX.  Country music star Lambert will bring together friends and family along with special musical guests, Stoney LaRue, Josh Kelley and Texas singer/songwriter Bri Bagwell, for a night filled with good music, good will and good times.

Tickets for this year’s concert go on sale Friday, February 25th at 10 a.m. central. Cause for the Paws, which has raised over $400,000 for animal related charities alone, is part of the many fundraising activities of Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation which was officially formed in 2008.  Over a half million dollars has been raised through annual concerts, direct donations and other fundraising mechanisms for East Texas, Tennessee and Oklahoma Animal Shelters.

Lambert is thrilled that “Ran Fans” and the East Texas citizens have become a vital part of the fundraiser, which has allowed The Humane Society of East Texas to become a no kill sanctuary since the fundraiser’s inception. Lambert adopted her own dog, Delilah, from the shelter and hopes this year’s event continues to raise valuable funds to benefit the homeless animals of East Texas.

"Bringing our event to downtown Tyler is really exciting for me,” said Lambert. “The event will be bigger and better in hopes that we can raise even more money for animal shelters and animal adoption transport. It’s a fun time and a worthwhile cause not only for our hometown area but I’m hoping the funds and awareness can help many other shelters and animals who need a loving home.”

Lambert added, “I appreciate the fans support for the past three years and I look forward to seeing everyone come out again this year. Together we are making a difference!”

MuttNation Foundation's mission is to raise funds through donations from the officers and directors of the Foundation and the general public, through direct donations, occasional benefit concerts, and other fundraising mechanisms in order to support other 501(c)(3) organizations and governmental institutions or entities whose purpose is to build animal shelters for better care; increase pet adoption and encourage responsible pet guardianship; rehabilitate sick or unsocialized animals; fund spay/neuter programs; reduce/eliminate euthanasia of healthy animals; and train shelter dogs for purposes of therapy programs, assistance for wounded military personnel and dogs-in-prisons programs.

Duo Will Sing “Bad Habit” From Angels & Devils CD

NASHVILLE – February 24, 2011 -- It’s going to be a two-thrilling experience for Sarah Darling this Saturday night (Feb. 26).  And, no, that isn’t a misspelling.
Not only will the dazzling young singer-songwriter make her first appearance ever on the world-famous Grand Ole Opry show that evening—she’ll also be making it side-by-side with one of the Opry’s most-beloved members, Vince Gill.

“When I was a little girl my grandpa used to tell me, ‘One of these days you’ll make it to the Grand Ole Opry.’ It’s here!!!” says Darling.  “As a singer, it really is a dream come true to play the stage where so many greats have played.  I’m so excited to get to play the Opry for the first time!  Not only because Vince Gill is introducing me, and singing with me on a song that I wrote, but because my grandfather will be in the audience.  It’s going to be an amazing moment.”

The song Sarah and Vince will sing together is the heart-racing love song, “Bad Habit,” which Sarah co-wrote.   Already a fan favorite at Sarah’s shows, “Bad Habit” begins with the vivid proclamation “I want to be your cigarette, I want to linger on your breath/Be the taste you can’t forget and can’t put down.”  It gets even steamier from there.
Sultry Sarah is currently igniting smiles (and no doubt inspiring some heavy breathing) with her flirtatious new single and music video, “Something To Do With Your Hands.”  The latter co-stars pro-wrestling star A. J. Styles.

                                                                                                                                FEBRUARY 24, 2011

Nashville, TN -- MCA Nashville singer/songwriter Josh Kelley co-wrote the theme song to the popular new CBS sitcom Mike & Molly, which is just one of many of his compositions featured in TV shows and movies.

Josh, named by The Tennessean as one of “11 Artists to Watch in 2011,” will release his debut country album, Georgia Clay, on March 22. Georgia Clay is Josh’s most autobiographical album to date and powerfully describes the most important moments of his life, including his marriage to actress Katherine Heigl, their adoption of daughter Naleigh and the family’s move to Utah.

Josh co-wrote “I See Love” with Keb’ Mo’, who sings the song in the version selected as the Mike & Molly theme.

“The Mike & Molly theme song came around sort of randomly,” Josh says. “In 2004, I called up Keb’ Mo’ and said, ‘I’d really love to write a song with you.’ He called me back and said, ‘Let’s do it.’  I drove up to his house and we sat around for a while and we wrote this song called ‘I See Love.’ He put it on his album.

“Probably six months ago, he called me and said, ‘There’s a TV show called Mike and Molly that wants to use the song because they came to my live show and heard it. The creators of the show loved it.’ I didn’t think much about it.

“The next thing you know, he’s calling me and saying that they took it. It’s funny because now I’m a really big fan of the show and every time I watch it, I get to hear this cool song.”

He is considering recording a country version of “I See Love” on his next album. “The lyrics tell a story and I think they are country lyrics. I definitely think it can be a country song for sure.

“It’s like the guy has been around the world and done all of these little things and it’s in his journey that he learns how to actually see love for what it is,” he says of the song. “It’s traveling that makes it possible for his brain to see love the way he should be seeing it and love that has been right in front of his face his whole life.”

Josh’s music has been a steady presence in TV and films over the last few years. He is known for the Top 5 hit “Amazing,” and his music has been featured in MTV’s The Hills, ABC’sBrothers and Sisters and What About Brian and the CW’s Smallville, as well as movies including Sweet Home Alabama and The Prince and Me.

“A fulfilling part of my life is being able to write songs for film and television and also write songs for other artists,” he says.

“Georgia Clay,” the debut single from his upcoming album, is a Top 25 hit and climbing. He co-wrote the song with his brother, Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley, and his producer Clint Lagerberg.

Lady Antebellum recently recorded his song “Like I Do” for possible inclusion on their upcoming album, and Warner Bros. artist Jason Jones is releasing Kelley’s song “Ferris Wheel” as his first single. “It’s a good time,” Josh says. “I feel like I’m still at the bottom of the ladder but climbing up steady-eddy for sure right now. I’ve got a long way to go, but I love the journey.”
Josh is always thrilled when he learns that one of his songs has been chosen by a director or music supervisor, but sometimes he is surprised by which song was selected.

“They always pick the songs that I think could never be in film and television,” he says. “The ones that I try to write for film and TV never get picked because I think it comes down to the cliché of trying too hard. When you are just doing it because you love it and aren’t trying hard, it seems like everything falls into place.

“I love that all of the songs they’ve picked happened to be the ones that I wrote because I love writing. I understood that years ago, and it’s helped me in the way I approached this album, and it’s the reason that this album is the best thing I’ve ever done. It’s because I approached it in a very calm, chilled manner. I’m fortunate to be here. This is the most fun job ever.”
His music has also been featured in movies starring his wife. For instance, “Tidal Wave” was in Life As We Know It, “Unfair” was in 27 Dresses and “Under the Covers” was in The Ugly Truth. But Kelley says being married to the film’s star didn’t give him an advantage in getting his songs chosen for the movie.

“I thought I would,” he says with a laugh. “I thought I would have a really good ‘in’ there, but it comes down to the music supervisors and whether they like it or not.  That would be nice if they would just throw me a bone! It’s a good testament to the quality of the music and just getting better ov

Already set to begin spinning on more than 50 country stations next Monday, “Tomorrow,” written by Young, Frank Myers, and Anthony Smith, is the first single from Young’s upcoming third album, Neon, set to release this summer.

Rare DeFord Bailey Record is Prominent Addition to New Exhibit at Fontanel

Nashville, Tenn. –February 23, 2011—Pat Bullard, a LifeWorks Foundation trustee and founder of the Nashville Music Garden, recently presented The Fontanel Mansion & Farma priceless piece of Nashville’s music history, a rare, original 78 recording of DeFord Bailey’s “Ice Water Blues/Davidson County Blues” accompanied by photos of Bailey with the original members of the Grand Ole Opry cast, circa 1920.
Noted DeFord Bailey biographer David Morton gifted the record to the Nashville Music Garden and feels its place at The Fontanel Mansion is fitting. “I gave this record to the Nashville Music Garden, because of their dedication to making people aware of DeFord Bailey and his most significant role in the early development of the country music industry in Nashville," said Morton. "The record is one of my favorites with 'Ice Water Blues,' DeFord’s classic rendition of a fiddle tune he learned from his grandfather, and 'Davidson County Blues,' a version of his popular 'Cow Cow Blues.' I am amazed and pleased with what the Nashville Music Garden has done with the record.”
Dubbed “The Harmonica Wizard” and breaking ground as the first African-American performer on the Grand Ole OpryBailey has been called “the most influential harmonica player in the first half of the 20th century.”  In fact, longtime Opry announcer, “Judge” George D. Hay, consistently credited Bailey as the inspiration for the naming of the Opry. On October 2, 1928, Judge Hay arranged for Victor Records to make the first known recordings in Nashville and specially requested that Bailey be part of the history-making session held in the city’s YMCA building. Bailey recorded eight tunes in this session, two of which are on the record now displayed at Fontanel.
Marc Oswald, co-owner of Fontanel, says the one-of-a-kind memorabilia is a valuable part of Fontanel’s collection. “Our original intention for Fontanel was not only to give Barbara Mandrell’s fans the opportunity to tour the home she and her husband, Ken Dudney, built, but also to see and touch music history dating back many decades. This DeFord Bailey recording is a noteworthy piece of history we are very proud to display.”
Bailey was controversially ousted from the Grand Ole Opry in 1941 with sources at the time citing licensing issues. While he continued to play his harmonica every day of his life while operating a shoe shine shop, he once lamented that he often played to “four walls and to God.” After years of faithful lobbying by friends and fans, DeFord Bailey was inducted intoThe Country Music Hall of Fame in November 2005, and he is now recognized as a critical part of Nashville’s music history.
“It is a wonderful idea to display and recognize my father's music, since he was one of the first stars of the Grand Ole Opry, along with Roy Acuff, Minnie Pearl, Bill Monroe and Uncle Dave Macon,” said Bailey’s daughter, Christine Bailey Craig.
