John Berry Bringing Compassion to Country Fans

Performances set at Two Major Festivals
to Support Compassion International

John BerryNashville, TN  (June 7, 2011) – John Berry wants to show Country fans Compassion when he takes the stage at two of America’s biggest Country Music Festivals this summer .  Berry will perform at  The Country Stampede in Manhattan, Kansas and the Rapids Jam Music Festival in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, both sponsored by renowned children’s charity, Compassion International.

"Having had the opportunity to go and see these children and to see the need in their homes makes it possible for me to tell you that these are not just pictures of needy children,” says Berry of his involvement with Compassion International.   “They are real and they need our help.”

These days Berry is known as much for his philanthropy as for his soulful tenor voice.  In the 1990s, Berry burned up the Country music charts with top 10 hits like, She’s Taken a ShineStanding on the Edge of Goodbye, and I Think About it All the Time.  His chart-topper, Your Love Amazes Me ranks among the most popular love songs of all time.

Both festivals will feature some of Country’s biggest names and are expected to draw tens of thousands of fans and potential donors.

“There is no question that Country music fans are passionate about life,” says Zane King, Artist Relations Manager for Compassion International.  “Yet we know there are real challenges around the globe for some people to simply exist.”

In addition to Berry, the first-ever, Rapids Jam Music Festival line-up includes Willie Nelson, Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum, Lee Brice, Sugarland, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser and Colt Ford.

The Country Stampede boasts an equally exciting lineup, from legendary acts like The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Sawyer Brown to today’s hot hit makers,  Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and Joe Nichols.  Fans will also get a chance to hear hot newcomers like Jason Jones and Greg Hanna.

“This partnership with Compassion International offers the fans the first opportunity to have a personal and longstanding relationship with a charitable foundation,” says Liz Cunningham, Marketing Manager for Country Stampede and Rapids Jam Music Festival.
The Rapids Jam Music Festival kicks off June 16th and runs through June 18th.  For more information, please visit www.rapidsjam.com.

The Country Stampede runs from June 23rd to June 26th.  For more information, please visitwww.countrystampede.com.

“We are very humbled to be part of these Country Music Festivals this summer,” King says. “This will be a great opportunity for us to share ‘RESPOND with Compassion,’ where people can donate monthly to help children with clean drinking water, emergency healthcare, proper nutrition and more.”

“Please join me, my family, and Compassion International as we help meet their needs and share the love of Jesus Christ,” adds Berry.

ARRESTED now in Colorado...but what a story and week for 2 brothers and their stripper sister! Text messages and tweets by three fugitive siblings who shot at a police officer and robbed a bank reveal a dangerous mindset and a firm bond between the siblings, "We've certainly seen their mindset when... They shot at a law enforcement officer outside of Tampa Bay, Fla., and when they fired inside that bank in Valdosta, Ga. But these additional texts and tweets have given us additional insight," FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett told "Good Morning America" today. " We are concerned and feel that they are going to continue and cause problems to say the least for law enforcement." Ryan Dougherty, 21; his sister Lee Grace E. Dougherty, 29; and half-brother Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26, have been on the lam since Aug. 2 when they shot at a police officer attempting to pull their white Subaru Impreza over for speeding.
